Driverless Cars
Google is trying to come up with a car that needs no human navigation to drive it. Has no steering wheel, gas pedal or brake pedal. Although I might trust one of these as opposed to some "people" that drive, I really dont think I'd want to be driven around by one

Re: Driverless Cars
i'm sure that if those solar powered ever come into play, it won't be hard to imagine a driverless car. but i don't see it happening in my life time. there's too much politics involved to allow for those solar powered roads. and that's all i'll say, ((let's not get into a political debate here, if you want to know my opinion, do it in a pm, thanks)

I'm with Kiss, to a degree. I dont need to be in control, but I prefer to know that someone who has as much to lose as I do is in control.

I think that is based on women having less accidents. However, they have no way of counting the accidents that women see in their rearview mirrors...

I'm sure you have a great rear view though Jen x

yeah we MEN of the world should start suing our insurance companies for discrimination, when recent studies clearly show that young teenage female drivers a clearly worse drivers than young males, and are more likely to become distracted then almost any other drivers, yet we MEN pay higher premiums than any one else. it's just not right i tell yas! lol

I wouldn't want anyone to get the impression that I'm a misogynist or that I'm prejudiced against women. That's not the case at all.

I think women should be treat as if they were equal to men!

Yes but Sweetheart...Your Dad got his licence, and just after was sent to war operating Tanks.
But your right ..none of those accidents were your fault, they should have known when someone was driving by brail.
I do it all the time, I just got my truck back from the body shop myself...although it was a cow that decided to test the thickness of my passenger door with the top of its head.

Re: Driverless Cars
Yes, I got clipped by a deer. The first two crossed the road. I did not expect a third. A buck which smashed into my windshield and flew over the top of the car.

I hit a parked car driving into a parking lot once. I stopped. I said, "Did I just hit your car?" Then I had a glass of wine and could drive just fine.

Last thing I ever hit was a duck. He looked like a hood ornament.

Re: Driverless Cars
The beer and wine industries should be all onboard with driverless vehicles, that way you can get yourself home safely after too much to drink. If I were a drinker, I'd buy one and name it "James". That way I could sit inside and say, "Home James". Lol.

I really hope men don't start treating me like a man.....I don't think we want to be treated as equals in most cases we get treated better than you guys treat each other. If you are referring to getting equal pay for equal work now we are talking a whole different issue. We tend to do multiple jobs at once so we should get paid accordingly.

Re: Driverless Cars
I heard two different reports today. One said they should have the driverless cars on the road by 2018 the other by 2020.

The main issues are, legally, who would be at fault in an accident. The owner of the car? the manufacture? If there is no driver but the car still causes an accident how do you hold "the driver" at fault?

They did say the cars will have various levels of control from totally driverless to various parts of driving being under the drivers/owners control.I remember when cruise control first started to go main stream and there was much of the same concern we are hearing now. I still can't believe how many times I have heard of people that think CRUISE control was the car doing the driving for them. More than one drunk has been in a wreck because they thought the car would drive them home.I am sure a few of you are old enough to have heard the same stories.

They will work this all out and at some point this will all be just everyday stuff.

Re: Driverless Cars
Oh, I know what your talking about...At a Rodeo dance I just walk up to the closest RCMP officer and say.."Take me drunk ociffer...I'm to home to drive "
They give me a ride home every time.
Usually it's not handcuffed....and usually in the back seat, they have not forgotten about the time I played with the shotgun and there was an ...unfortunate incident.
