...and for some of us...Our toys we lost buried in the sandbox.
But I do miss seeing that backcombed blonde White Snake hair.

Re: Memories Of The Opulent 80's
I buried my die cast corvette in the sand at the lake.
Clothes- slouch socks and leg warmers
Hair- a girl setting her hair on fire in science class. She leaned over the microscope and stuck her six inch high bangs in a Bunsen burner.
The music- Paula Abdul, Debbie Gibson, The Bangles, and New Kids on the Block, MC Hammer and the lip syncing group what were they called?
Tell me I'm not the only one that remembers the TV series "V" from back then. And the Thundercats cartoons

Re: Memories Of The Opulent 80's
Thats right !!! Hockey Hair, or what was later known as the Mullet.
Business in the front, Party in the back.
I also remember Prince, but I really remember his girl Apellonia, and her big fake boobs.

By the end of 1980, Disco was dead.
Apollonia's boobs were real back then. You can always tell a natural breast by the way it hangs, and hers used to hang like the real deal.
"Purple Rain". I got laid because of this movie. A couple of times.

Re: Memories Of The Opulent 80's
my sister dated a guy that did grounds keeping at Paisley Park Studios in Chanhassen, Mn. back in the late 80's. he taught her how to drive a car in the parking lot after hours. (i'm sure they did more than drive too...) he was supposed to try to get me a private tour, and set it up so i could meet Prince...but my sister broke up with him before it happened. i was so pissed at her for a long time. not only did she ruin my chance to meet Prince, but her boyfriend had four classic Pontiac GTO's that he was gonna let me drive when i got old enough (i was probably only about 13 yrs old at the time)...

Re: Memories Of The Opulent 80's
I gotta admit, when MTV first happened, I'd sit there and watch videos for hours.
And one of my all time favorite movies, Caddyshack came out in 1980 and then in 87, Wall Street came out.
And although I hated the term at the time, I was a total yuppie. Not with the tennis shorts and an IZOD sweater tied around my neck, but yeah, the big house in the right neighborhood, the best cars, 20 suits in the closet, at one point, I had over 100 ties and my shirts were so heavily starched that you could lean them against something and they'd stand up by themselves. And of course, everything was about money.
I didn't really appreciate much of what was going on at the time because we were living it. But looking back, it was a pretty cool decade.
It's been around for a few years now, but the History Channel periodically runs series called "The 80's. The Decade That Made Us." Makes me wanna play Pac Man and listen to Duran Duran

You may find this hard to believe but..I don't own a single tie, and the only dress jacket I own, has Carhartt stamped on it.

Not even one of those bootlace jobs that are so popular with cowboys?

String ties are so 70's...If I go to a wedding, I'll wear a Palehorse shirt with a banded collar, but even that feels like someone threw a loop over my neck ,and is stretching it tight.

From my extensive knowledge of the cowboy lifestyle (gained exclusively from Clint Eastwood movies!) I'd have thought that was an occupational hazard!
It's a bit of a toss up as to who is The Good, The Bad and The Ugly though...

Re: Memories Of The Opulent 80's
The 80's was a busy time for me. Going to many clubs, almost never seeing daylight except when heading home.Spending a lot of time in Manhattan. I was either at a dance club or comedy club or at a concert.Having more hair styles than I can count. Getting married. Having my first and second kid. Fortunately got most of the drugs and rock in roll stuff out of my system before I had the kids. At least by the 90's I was ready for some rest.
