Diluted internet
Maybe it's just me...but it seems the internet as a whole isn't as fast paced as it once was.
I do recall a time when I turned on my computer in the morning and wouldn't have enough time to catch up with all the overnight submissions and updates on my favorite news, science and humor sites.
Now so often is nothing new at all or just one page or less.
Maybe everyone is caught up and focused on posting as many selfies as possible now, busy with their own personal pages.

Re: Diluted internet
Yep, I gotta say...maintaining and protecting a chicken coop was the hardest job I've ever had, very challenging!
Write me when your book is published, send me a note with titles of anything you already have published, I'm very interested.
I've noticed a strong dwindling on all sites, sites I use to check once or twice a day, now there's no point but to check them out once a week...nothing new.

Re: Diluted internet
Please let me know when it's published
***************************************************
I actually just googled "the internet has gotten boring" and found several sites and articles.
I agree with this article excerpt...
"When I was in art school in the 90s, I half-seriously proposed carving websites in stone and then burying them, since I recognized then that the early internet would be lost. Like most things I said in classes back then, I was laughed at but I had a point that has since been validated.
My prediction was correct but for the wrong reasons -- I was sure that the design of websites would change in unpredictable ways, but I didn't predict that the way websites would be consumed would change from desktop computers to...phones and tablets. Or that this switch to phones and tablets would change the pace with which people consumed content. Or that phones and tablets would turn people into passive consumers of the internet rather than active participants in it (other than their personal profiles, of course) "
***********************
I do think it's a good summary of what my own thoughts are...we have become strictly consumers of the web, we go online and to consume, expect to be entertained but we no more contribute.

Re: Diluted internet
Part of the problem of diluted internet may be that we have all become skeptical of what is on here...Things like "membership is free....we just need your credit card number to verify your account"..Or.."Talk to as many people as you want FREE !!".....Before I had high speed I had joined a pile of sites, trying to find one that would work on my system, and of course I found this one, and I'm still very happy here,..so I cruised some of the old sites I had joined a few years ago. I entered this one site and a supposed young 25 year old slim blonde saw I was online and emailed me . She was from Kamloops, and everthing she told me was too good to be true..She said that there was more info about her on another site, and to join there to get a hold of her.The site wasn't even finished being built..So Kamloops being five hours inside the interior of B.C...I asked how far she lived from the ocean...she replied "Close enough to see it from my bedroom windows !!" I think perhaps the public is weary of false advertising, pop ups, free web cams, and general bullshit invading their free time, and have become non believers of anything they see online..

Re: Diluted internet
i think it's because you can find anything you want just by doing a search. people are not shocked by what they see anymore. a few years ago, if you had told me that i could watch a video of a woman using a wine bottle in her ass, i would have been shocked. or (and i know this is a touchy subject) the topic of bestiality could be discussed or even seen, or that you could see people mutilating their bodies for pleasure. those things were not as easily found, or discussed until the internet came into play, and a few years ago, it was difficult to find stuff like that even on the web, but today, you can find just about anything. people are bored and not shocked as to what they can find.

I think what Syb said has a lot to do with it. The other thing too is that it seemed a lot more alluring because it was something new. Now it's kinda taken for granted. That is until you dont have it

For most sites, the term "for entertainment only" needs to be remembered.

Oh yeah, I do remember how excited I was when PC's became affordable, I remember not knowing what I wanted to do first when I went online for the first time, how great it was to just surf and explore. I use to spend at least a day a month at the library but now I had it all right in front of me.
It has become more of a utility now, something I use with a purpose.
Finding lively discussion forums use to be a thing for me, but now it seems all I run across are boards full of troll hate and strong alarmist political crap.
