With Sy it is egual amounts of both, but I know for a fact that if needed something Sy would be there. I would ride with him through what ever was dished out I nave never met him, but I know he would be my wingman. Some cowboys can tell all the stories they want but is all bull shit. I know with Sy it isn't horse shit or bullshit it is 100% cowboy and that is as good as it gets in my books.OCB

I'm not real sure when horn weighting started, I was told the practice started in North America as a common pratice around 1870, but I do know from my ancestors that they did it in Europe forever, and my Grandfather was sure it had started in Switzerland, to protect the children that handled the cattle, and where fencing on mountain sides were usually just stacked up logs. Weighting horns solves problems like pecking order, shipping injuries, also gate and fence damage...and obviously injuries to other cows. Weights are applied to the growing young horns to curve them down , and direct the horn towards the animals own face. Horn weighting is more common in older civilized areas where predators have been managed for longer periods of time...My bulls are selected, among other reasons, for narrowness in the hip. and horn length, related directly to predator defense.....so I don't use, nor have I ever used horn weights, but I have seen other Ranchers, or more like Farmers, cut the horn at an angle to promote curved horns. If your any kind of Cowboy, like you are OCB...you've seen , and probably felt how dangerous and deadly a straight horn can be...

we had to handle longhorn bulls sixty days a year. We couldn't use our dogs at all, they knew right where the end was and how to use it We had a Hereford and a Long Horn get together the Hereford killed the long horn but then he died a couple days later. OCB thanks

Sorry for bothering you again, NOT There is a breed of horse that is curly and i can't remember the name, The horse i used in prison was wild at one time and he was curly main, tail, fet locks, evrything have seen any or heard of any in canada.
These horses came from ten western states. Also do you have federal grazing leases on national like we do her. Thanks OCB

Yes we do have them...They are called Bashkir...or North American Curley, and they carry a hypozygenous genetic trait , meaning it can skip one or several generations, before presenting itself in an offspring...The amazing part is..They are hypoallergenic...People who are allergic to horses, and there are many...Can ride and work with them , without any reactions..Curlies are carved into stone Hyroglyphs in Egypt, they were rode into battle by the Chiefs ,and Holy men of the Sioux nations, Sitting Bull rode one into battle at the Little Bighorn...They stand apart, and are geneticaly significant...That trait was recognised by a rancher in I think Nevada...after a harsh winter in the 1930's then another one in the 1950's..The family took note that 90% of the Mustangs left living were Bashkir, or had curley hair..They captured a stud and began a breeding program.. Yes we have Government grazing leases. We used to be a British Monarchy,...So it is called Crown Land...But we are now losing it to the First Nation people..I voluntarily didn't put my cows in an area called Howler Rim for two years...I told the Government that the protected grasslands there needed a break from the over grazing....When I applied to place them back there in late spring of last year, they informed me that it had reverted back to the First nations for Mule deer habitat...and sustenance purposes. Crown lease is now under attack from our own Government policies, and special interest groups...So in other words, due to my own careful and concious Range management, and although that lease was paid for and used since 1927...My ranch just lost some value, and got a little smaller...
