Documentaries , Bio's, Fame, Money
I have been catching parts of some documentaries and Bio's lately. I am actually watching the one about Freddie Mercury of Queen as I'm writing this.I find some so interesting but also so sad.The one thing every single one has in common is that there is always something so tragic in their lives. That seems to be the price of fame. Knowing that....Why would anyone want that life? Even if they don't get the tragedy they give up all their privacy, and thought of a normal life. Where is the up side to all that fame and money?

I wonder the same. I find it amazing that people get so surprised when a famous person dies of a drug overdose.

Bios about people who have had a charmed and smooth easy life don't make it to the screen and bookshelves.

Yeah...The same thing crossed my mind, it's the same around here.
An old family ranch, bought up by a millionare, or famous celebrity. They build a big fancy house with a copper roof, and 12 foot ceilings....Then run around the country side telling everyone how easy ranching is...
Meanwhile they go thru employees that are seasoned cowboys, and cowgirls, almost monthly.....Shit the Gang Ranch,is the largest ranch in the world right now, and is owned by some Shieck from Saudi...and he's only seen it twice.
He sends a few of his wives there every year for a sabatacle ,from life in the palace, and living with him.
Lots of singers, and movie stars own them too...some are very nice, some ...not so much

I used to like VH1'a Behind The Music when it first came out. The story was almost always the same. Artist struggles, Artist hits it big, Artist gets too much, too fast, Artist gets into drugs, Artist hits rock bottom. The ending was one of two things: Artist cleans up and goes on; or, Artist meets tragic ending. Its almost like they followed a play book

I've known some very famous painters and sculptors...and your so right Free
Some struggled, and never forgot how hard it was...others hit it big, and descended into a self inflicted madness...
Some pulled out of it and survived...others passed away, but they are looked at by some as icons in the high end art world...The one observation I've made is that pattern never happens in the western art field..

Re: Documentaries , Bio's, Fame, Money
Well when the Dweeber left here he was a clean cut, innocent Canadian kid...
Unfortunatley ,Canadian artists of any kind have to leave this country for any kind of recognition in whatever field they are in...
The U.S. seems to embrace talent..while we quietly smile and say...."Thats a nice little bit of talent you have there, but don't give up your day job."
Unless of course if you happen to play Hockey...We are a strange bunch of people, that never take ourselves to seriously....and talent is something that tends to get overlooked here.

Re: Documentaries , Bio's, Fame, Money
Not all wealthy people suck.I know a few that are pretty amazing and would never like it known to the public how much good they do. Not all famous people suck either. Unfortunately like Chazzy said those who are not crazy or fucked up don't make it to the media's must show list. The public is as much to blame for much of this because if there was no demand for this crap to be shown then there wouldn't be shows magazine's or anything else that shows it. I dream of a world without paparazzi and trash magazines. I want the news to actually report real news again.
