well I'm at the end of my stick, they brought me gas last Friday , 100 gals and it cost 500.bucks. and I just can say I had enough, whats a body to do? ya need heat right? then I hear about wood pellets going up in price , that be OK if I had a pellet stove or a wood stove but we don't any more.i just refuse to pay that for propane , but whats a guy to do?

I know here, in an extreme environment, a pellet stove will keep the house from freezing, but the BTU's are not enough to keep it comfortable, they are more of a room heater, but they are nice for a person who works away from home. You can fill the hopper and it just keeps feeding itself, and heating all day.
Most modern log homes have vaults in them, trapping the heat near the peak, if a wood stove is installed in the basement, keeping the house warm with Northern Interior Douglas Fir is no problem. My wood stove is at the front door, which is an 8 foot opening with a large window right behind the small stove, when I had just my hot water in-floor heat , it was the coldest spot in the house, now it's the warmest.
BTW...it was -30 last night with a high wind...stoked the fire last night at 11, this morning it was just right in there for sipping coffee.

Reminds me of the story of the horny young man walking down the country road when he sees a beautiful young farm girl walking towards him leading a cow so he stops to chat her up. He asks her what she's doing and she says she's taking the cow to be serviced by a bull. The young man senses a chance to get the girl alone for a couple of hours and asks the girl if she can't get her father to do that.
The girls blinks her eyes at him sweetly and says "No, it has to be a bull that does it..."
