Chat rooms
Hi , I'm new here and can't get into chat rooms. Do you have to be a paid member to use them?

If you post what problems you're having(what errors, what happens when you try) and what you're using (PC, smart phone, etc) we'll be able to help you.
It usually worth un-installing then re-installing your java, many times that will do it.
In the support forum, UNF the site programmer has left this reply for the java/chatroom problem and I've copied and pasted it for you below.
"Since the last Java update the chat cannot run. Here is a workaround the problem:
http://www.java.com/en/download/help/jcp_security.xml
Just set the security level to medium and you will be able to run the chat application"

That is the problem I had when it was updated the security setting was blocking it so I had to change my setting and then it lets you in.

I think thats where Kiss is having issues as well..My problem was here with my satellite settings, and have been fixed, so I can chat now.

I think thats where Kiss is having issues as well..My problem was here with my satellite settings, and have been fixed, so I can chat now.
after Java did the last update, there's been issues with some people not having the options to change their security settings, the "slider" is no where to be found. i'm not sure if it's just affecting Windows 8, or others have had that issue as well.

I took the upgrade to 8.1, but I cant get in at all. Ive done everything that I read on how to do it and not only cant I find security settings, I cant even find the control page that you have to go to to adjust it

I think perhaps something should be instructed,..or done....I'm no computer wizard, before we lose some of the crucial people around here....
Not only do some of us care a great deal for each other, but we have become part of each others lives....
These people are not the be all ,or end all of this site, and it would survive without their daily input...but there may be a few less laughs, and personalities around here if they get to frustrated....and that would be a shame.
I'm not speaking for them, but it seems some are getting frustrated,...besides how are Free and I going to sling insults at each other , without having everybody see that in the forums.
And Kiss......when she finaly manages to log into chat...Some of us may need take a few days recovery time off from work....and YES !! We miss her.
For the record I'm not going any place, and I think it's safe to say, they don't want to either, but it has been a little slow around here, and it's apparent now why.

My AV program on my old laptop's subscription expired and I'll be getting the new version of it next week. Once I have it installed, I'm gonna try to log on from that computer. I dont quite understand because Java is one of the most widely used programs in the world. I never had any problems getting in there with my Dell with XP

have you tried uninstalling Java? i read that you need to remove all the old versions of it, and start over. then again, if it's a new computer, there shouldn't be many versions of it installed yet.

If I remember (and I just did it). I found the setting button. Click. Then Java control panel. Changed security setting from high down to medium. I was in!
