Artists..
I've been doing some reading, and once in a while I do pay attention ,and I also know some of you very well..and I'm very curious .
I've noticed a common trait here amongst us...There are a lot of artists here.
There are Painters, Sculptors , Musicians, Authors, etc...
If you feel comfortable, and you want to tell us about your creative field, what medium inspires you, ? Either for your own satisfaction, or even perhaps if your a professional...Also what do you think draws so many creative people together here,..and why then very rarely, do we talk about it. ?
Remember....only if your very comfortable sharing that part of you..

One of the dumbest things i ever did was i had a full schorship to Kansas City Art Institute that i didn't use. At the time i was making big money building houses in vale. I have a done a lot of scrimshaw and won prizes for it. I'm a pretty good cowboy boy poet and have performed. my lille band back in the sixties got to open for the KINKSat the denver coliseum. Right now before i die i'm writing a book about an exceptional cow dog i had and other assorted cowbot tails. And i don't have a clue on any of your questions SY OCB

Re: Artists..
Every since I was very young, I loved to sketch. 3 things I've done since childhood that mom not only allowed, but encouraged was drawing, music & reading. Mom insisted all her kids learn at least 1 instrument, I learned 3, & my love of music hasn't diminished, I want to learn more. I also still draw. Once I entered Jr hi, I finally had the chance to learn more in art class. I hated drawing still life, apples on a table... boring!! But I always liked drawing wildlife, or a old farm house, & cartoons. I won many awards in pastels & acrylic paint & pencil, had cartoons printed in various magazines ( including Hustler .... nobody else would print them) & a few newspapers. I still paint native Indian type themes on cow skulls, & I believe I have a painting in my albums that I done on a 2 Man saw... sorry this became a novel

I am NO artist - I have no training, nor skill or talent - raised by staunch Methodist, type A woman where free spirit was thought to be breath of the devil, but on those rare occasions when I try to foster that free spirit inside me, photography is my tool of choice, particularly nature (I really despise shooting people unless it is secretly and I love to shoot in B&W. Re: Artists..
I come from a family of artists. My biological father was an award winning and well known artist and photographer. One brother in particular makes a living at it. He is an amazingly talented person but unfortunately I haven't seen him paint in many years. He is very good. He uses the other parts of his artistic talent in what he does but I miss his painting. He is also an amazing musician that needs to get back to it!

I like to draw and sketch but NEVER show it anyone. I had one that I did of my daughter sleeping when she was a little girl that got thrown out by accident and it breaks my heart. I loved to just look at it when she was not home and I would think about her.She was the only other person to ever see it. Maybe some day I will do another one.I also used to do a lot of ceramics. I can't do it anymore do to injuries.

My other thing I love to do is bake and decorate cakes, cookies and just about anything I can bake. I can't decorate like I used to because of my injuries from my accident. I have made some amazing cakes in the past and cookies as well. Now I do much more simplified versions because my hands don't cooperate.I can't even write on the cakes like I used to. I have to admit it frustrates me when I want to do something that I used to do easily and can't do it anymore. Even the simple things like a boarder really causes a lot of pain so I keep the cakes small and do simple things.I tend to do things in stages when I can so I can rest between for my hands and arms to work better.

I was taught, back in the days of film cameras, that if you get 1 really good shot out of a roll of film you got lucky. I used to burn 4-5 rolls at a time when I was out trying to catch that perfect shot. THAT is on of the nice things about digital - review, delete re-shoot, but I still like film

Thats interesting you should say that....I was drawn here for many reasons, I was lonely, and beat up pretty bad through a divorce that I didn't see coming, as well as some battle scars that I was working through , both physical and mental.
I didn't post a picture of myself for some time because I'd been told women reacted to me because of the way I looked, and some said my personality was the reason, and I was curious...
After some time, I felt accepted here, for who I was, even with my different lifestyle, and outlook on things...
I feel accepted by many, understood by some, loved by a few, and hated by none....I think the outside world could take a reality check from you people in our alternate virtual world.

It is interesting how you can find the most real people sometimes in a place that some people don't even consider real. Syb you bring up a good point. You came here with an curiosity more than an expectation like some do. I did the same thing and found something I didn't even know I was looking for. It is funny how so many people meet this way and form long lasting relationships being friends, lovers or both, yet it is still not really excepted in the "real world" as being an acceptable way to meet for most people.I feel very luck to have met the love of my life as well as some people that I believe to be as real as you can get and as nice and they can be.
