Air Digital
Airlines now allowing digital device use during flights..."they" predict most use will be texting and email and not phone calls but knowing that people with feet on the ground don't seem to give a crap or have a clue how disruptive their phone calls are, I can't see this human behavior being any different on a plane.

Re: Air Digital
I'm with ya. And if you've ever had the misfortune of having to over hear some of these conversations in a store, a restaurant or where ever, they're usually about the most menial things you can imagine. If my phone rings in a setting like that, I will usually take the call to be sure there isn't something wrong and when I know everything is ok, I tell the person where I am and call them back. If it is an important call that I do need to take, I will quickly get somewhere that I can have some privacy and finish the call. First, I dont want too be "that guy" and second, I dont want anyone else knowing my business.

Re: Air Digital

Re: Air Digital
or instead of looking for hthe "black box", they'll search for the pilot's cell phone.

Re: Air Digital
From what I've heard about this, most airlines aren't allowing it. This is a Fed thing saying it's ok. AFTER several devices were set off from "smart" phones.

Re: Air Digital
They are having hearings about this. From a technical standpoint they say there is no reason to block them. THEY HAVE KNOWN THIS FOR A VERY LONG TIME. The real argument is do people want them used on a plane. The polls have shown the vast majority of people do not want voice calls to be allowed on planes. They are considering the texting and other so called silent technology. My question is would they require that people turn off the sound effects.I don't want to here the stupid and annoying sounds that you hear every time someone receives a text or email. Not to mention the people that have the type writer sound on for when they type.Even the light every time someone texts can be annoying under some circumstances. I have had that unpleasant experience sitting at a movie and having some kids none stop texting next to me in a crowded theater and no seats to even move to.Some of you might remember when they had phones on planes. The thing that kept people from staying on them for long periods was the astronomical cost. They have said that if they decide to allow this that there will be additional costs from our cell phone providers and you can bet if the airlines can charge you some how they will as well. Just as they do for internet. As for pilots...They have been caught on their phones, computers, ipads etc..If you are going to be someone that breaks rules there is not much we can do. If you believe that when those doors are closed that those pilots are all awake and doing what you expect of them you are dreaming. The one thing I do wish for is that the airlines would go back to the experienced pilots and the demand for quality personnel that they had years ago. Becoming an airline pilot for the big airlines years ago was something that took a lot of experience and training. Now everything is based on money.

Re: Air Digital
Seems to be some law of the Universe...the person with the most obnoxious and annoying ring tone will get the most calls.
It's just grating to be quietly sitting in a Doctor's waiting room with someone who has a ridiculous novelty ring tone.
"No Doc, my blood pressure isn't usually this high but you have this rude clueless jackass out in your waiting room..."

Most doctors offices have signs up saying "TURN YOUR PHONE OFF. IF YOU MUST HAVE IT ON TURN IT TO SILENT" Gotta love the fact that most people agree about how annoying it is yet so many do it.
OH I saw the best thing on TV last night. Did anyone else see where this guy sits next to people on their cell phone and starts having a conversation about their conversation they are having but acts as if he is having his own conversation. You have to see the reaction of the people he is doing it to. LMAO These people are shocked and think it is so rude that he is "listening" the them. You have to see it.I bet it is online if you want to see it.They called it "Cell phone crashing."
By the way they have already relaxed some of the rules on planes. For example I don't have to turn off my Kindle below a certain altitude anymore. I was happy to hear that because it always seemed to be at the best part when they told you to turn those off in the past.lol

Re: Air Digital
Mark my words...One day a guy's going to playing a flight simulation game on his cellphone. It will somehow interfere with the planes navigations controls and this guy's going to be flying the plane from economy class...
