a redheaded guest
i seem to have a redheaded guest hanging on a tree outside, i think its a downny woodpicker, but it seems to have a damaged wing, its pointing north, and cant fly,i let the cat out and we both spotted it. its one hell of a hopper too.3 houses down there are other feeders, but it seems to be hanging here, less compition? then over there?
i tried to get a hand on it to check it over, but the sucker is quick.it runs right up the tree trunk and hops in my feeder, so it is eatting and looks fat or just fluffed up. i guess should i live and let live, or let the cat do it in?

Re: a redheaded guest
I know if there is an injured animal. We call the humane society and they come trap it and try to nurse it back then release it back to the wild. They don't want people handling the animals because they wont survive if released and are people friendly.

you should call him "Woody", and just hope "Wally Walrus" doesn't show up next...

It's funny, this is the second time I've seen this thread and I got an instant thought, it was something about "Angus McGillacutty the Irish Shot-puter"...
This is where all the drugs I did as a kid begin to catch up and take their revenge on me...

A " She Pecker ?" HMMMmm...I almost got fooled once by a human she pecker....The adams apple should have been my first warning.
If the little girl has a wing joint problem , feed it something high in Amino Acids, that'll take care of Avian joint weakness.

Re: a redheaded guest
I have around 30 or 40 bald eagles living in the timber around my house. One of them has a leg that hangs straight down and appears useless.I got within 50 feet of him yesterday, and the talons are curled tight, so it's probably a slipped tendon.
I find it amazing he can feed himself with one working foot, as he appears very healthy and strong.

Yeah...Sons a bitches. My giant Rotweiller goes up the hill and drags home their dead deer...I mean the entire deer!!..He's got a collection of them behind the barn. He tried stacking them up on the front lawn , but I wouldn't allow it.
The amazing thing is that Eagle is sitting in the Cottonwoods looking for the spawning trout in the creek.

There was a squirrel with only three working legs that slept in my truck when we lived in town. My stepdaughter had to open the door and wait on him to get out when she was ready to go to school.
