Kickstarter
Has anyone tried this? I've looked at it and am amazed at how much money some people raise for their various projects and some others that fall on their faces. I see a lot of music acts trying to get funding for launching a tour, making a video or recording a new CD. Some get boatloads of money thrown at them. I dont want any of that, but I was thinking of trying it out to pay for studio time to pretty some recordings up so I can submit them to publishing companies to hopefully get picked up by someone who's already established

I recently wandered over to that site (just internet hopping) It seems like the success is not based on quality of the cause or artist, but the quality of the marketing to drive the traffic to your kickstarter page.
I'm sure it probably takes a lot of effort and commitment to adverstise yourself.

Yeah, that was my take away too. It's how good the video you submit is to promote the project you're trying to fund. I heard about it on an episode of Shark Tank
