Bankruptcy
I read the post of "wish I could be a vip member"
I saw that some on here are or on the verge of declaring bankrutcy.
Do not worry. Life does get better. I went through this several years ago and have emerged much better.
One suggestion. After bankruptcy leave the credit cards aone. When you recieve these offers tear them up or even better shread them. Also contact these people and make them take you off their mailing list. I received another offer from Chase and they listed a phone number for me to call about this. It not only removed me from their list, but everyones. They gave me the option of I think three months, three years or never.
Wish you all well. This is sometimes difficult to overcome, but it is possible!!!

Re: Bankruptcy
I was in bankruptcy court last Friday...I really hated to do it, spent several years trying to pay what I could, when I could...
It wasn't credit cards that buried us either....it was medical bills...a few necessary trips to the emergency room with no health insurance...DOOMED!!!
So, I am also hoping to emerge from all this with a better future outlook, but now, the husband is once again unemployed, and I'm very worried about any medical emergencies that may arise and put us right back in Doomville.

Re: Bankruptcy
Sorry to hear about the medical bills. I hope that all of you stay healthy. One thing I forgot to mention is that there are several "financial consultants" that deal with creditors directly. I know they do credit cards but I am sure that they also do other creditors. I think these are a better option. The thing I do not like is that these places want you to let your cards get past due and then they use that for leverage against the card company.

Re: Bankruptcy
Bankruptcy was our only real option, medical expenses are un-freakin-believable! One trip to an emergency room, spent a total of about 9 hrs there, and that one bill totaled nearly $6000.00.
We had a few credit cards, but never owed more than $800 on any one of them, always paid on time, and always well over the minimum due.
After several years of barely treading water with hospital bills, there was no doubt that a start with a clean slate was the only way out.

Re: Bankruptcy
OK, I can understand the medical bills. Most of these places have no concern about a persons finances. One suggestion. If you are looking for health insurance, be sure that you look to well known companies. There are many offers out there from places offering "health insurance" for under $60 per month for a single person. Do not get caught in this. These are not health insurance, but a plan that discounts what you are charged. That is provided that you pay the entire amount when you receive the service. I know this because I had offers of this when I was loking a few months ago. These are typical sales people that will tell you most anything to get you to join. Just some more advice from experience.
I hope things will get better for you!!!
