Re: Apple Butter
7 ounces moonshine ..splash of lemon...
Put all the breakable shit away in the first 20 minutes of sobriety...cough drops to weaken the throat burn...and don't answer the door when you hear "trick or treat !"
3 ounces Gibsons whiskey, 2 cups hot boiling water...spoon full of honey.
Popcorn started in real oil...not some air popper...when you hear the first ones pop, throw in a palm full of brown sugar....when done popping add melted butter and some salt..When cool add some dry roasted peanuts, and Smarties...or M+M's for my American friends.

Re: Apple Butter
Ahhh, I've made many a batch of apple butter...someone told me that their mother use to make awesome persimmon butter. So...I collected a butt load of persimmons to give it a try. The thing with persimmons is that once you pit them, there is barely any fruit left...so I didn't follow through.
On the other hand, I sure miss my special blackberry/wild grape mixture jam.

We had blackberries down on the Lower Mainland near Vancouver...but not here, because of the heat in summer ,and elevation.
I've tried transplanting some near the creek, but they just burn up in August.
Funny how an annoying weed that grows into everything , can be so missed if you don't have it.

Re: Apple Butter
this isn't apple butter,
so we will call it country breakfast casserole
1lb of breakfast sausage, i used only half
1 chopped green onion, i used 3 scallions
2 cups of shredded Cheddar, i use 3 cheeses Colby Jack cheddar and ,mozzarella
6 eggs , i used 5
1 cup water 1/2 milk, i used 1 cup water and a half of can milk
one packet of country gravy mix
6 slices of bread cut into 1 inch cubes
heat over 325,grease 11x8 pan, i used deep dish pie
brown the sausage and drain
combine sausage and onion cover bottom of pan, top with cheese..
wisk eggs water milk and gravey mix, pour into dish.
cover with bread cubes
if ya want you can sprinkle melted butter over the top and sprinkle paprika over it too
bake 40 minittes till knife comes out clean.
i think next time ill add tator tots and drop bisqits instead of bread cubes
