Seriously, I'm so sad at the thought you won't be able to log in. I do agree keeping your account open is certaintly the right thing to do.
When it comes to extremely technical stuff, I can only offer one suggestion...ask Mooant.
I'll send him a note, he's amazing with this type of knowledge but considering the circumstances...no one may be amazing enough

I went to town yesterday, and stopped in at a few places that had high speed internet services.....and they all had parental control programs on their computers.
So when I googled Web Naughty it just shut down, thank God I turned down the volume....I think it may have had an alarm.
Driving back from town there were three men working at the control site where the satellite repeater is located. I asked them if I could purchase the unit,...they said it was being moved further north to service something else.
When I told them they were cutting me off from the rest of the world, and people I care about, they said "Just go buy a phone"
I told them there are no services here, and no other options...they said "Yah, we've heard of you"...and I replied...and to quote our Kiss..." I've already put out one fire heading for this site, and if you have another fire here, or one of you gets lost...you won't be hearing from me at all "

Re: Ride Off into the Sunset..
Oh Syb this is bad news. Maybe you can declare it a medical necessity and them they have to supply you with service? Does a permanent hard on qualify as a medical necessity?
Okay on a more serious note and hopefully solution I will do some checking for you. I have a family member that not only had to deal with a similar situation where he lived for many years, until they they finally decided to step into current days and add technology to where he lives, but he does it all over the world for the media. He is an engineer and many times he does live shoots from places that don't normally get signals, satellite or otherwise. He has had to figure out how to get signals from Antarctica and underwater in Antarctica or remote areas of Bali that has no modern anything!. He has been places that really are the middle of nowhere. They kind of places that don't have electricity never mind cell service.I do know this much, the solution is NEVER CHEAP. Buy I will ask if he has any suggestions anyway. The only thing I no for sure that might be a saving grace here...There are new things already being tested that might be of help to you.
You have to remember that Cable companies, Satellite companies, phone companies etc... want to be able to charge as many people as they can the astronomical prices they charge . The thing that obviously works against you is the amount of property you own. They hate paying to run anything in for one person. I know when I worked in the cable industry we would get requests from people like you and the answer was always the same."If they will pay for the equipment, manpower and anything it takes to get the service, we will be happy to give it to them and charge them every month."
I know I will miss you more than you think if you can't be on here. However, I would never give up all you have to live any other way if it were my choice either. So stay in touch when ever you can.

How do you receive you T.V. signal?
There is only one company thats satellite attitude can clear the mountains...and my receiver is very ,very far away from the house, the co-ax cable is cheap to run so it doesnt matter, and it also doesn't need a booster powered by electricity....and also bear in mind my T.V. signal is very unreliable, due to the altitude of the very close mountains I have here.
Youve also heard me talk about a movie we've both seen but i didn't see the ending...because I lose the signal due to weather, or some other mysterious reason.
Getting a satellite signal includes installing the receiver so far from the ranch house, that it needs to be boosted, which means electricity...I've looked at solar, which doesn't work in the snow at 4200 feet, and wind power, that creates an electrical disturbance with the satellite unit,...actually wind power was Samib's idea.
Star choice offers satellite recieving technology...but you can only view pages at high speed,..sending out info is done thru a phone line,..which I don't have, and is slow anyways....So I could in fact see you guys, but never talk to you...and that would be depressing....Plus its stupidly expensive.
There is an option i'm exploring with putting up a small commercial cell tower that has solar energy panels that will produce enough energy during the very short winter days we have here,...it's about $16,000.oo to install, so i'm trying to find a used one in the Northern gas fields, that use equipment designed for the arctic.

We have members of Parliament...and out here it is a pride thing.
We answer , nor ask to no person..and I am a Canadian rancher,...We don't complain.
I'm working on it, there is a answer to my problem, it just will take money, and if weather permits pouring concrete for a private cell tower 2 months out of the year.
I'll pack the water and concrete, on pack horse in spring, and pour a slab for a tower. If I can manage to save enough to purchase a used cell tower, my buddies at forestry will Helo- in the tower and place it , if they can use it for their communications above 4200 feet...Like we have fires above 4200...the treeline is 3000 feet above that, so it's a favour.
It seems all communication satellites have an Easterly service signal...I climbed to the top of Carson Mountain, it's base is my back yard...well now thats impossible...I climbed to about 4000 feet, and chipped thru the ice and found bedrock...and a 4 G cell signal...with 4 freakin bars..
You see ...my stubborness has it's strengths.

QUOTE (sybianwatcher1 @ October 29, 2013, 23:31) QUOTE (Samib @ October 29, 2013, 22:03)Its called determination. Where there is a will, there is a way.
Well ,thats not what my Dad used to call it...till I was fifteen I honestly thought my middle name was "Shithead"..
Now he says I'm determined...
Hey my dad told me once I had a stubborn streak a mile wide. I told him I got it from him. He was not amused.

Re: Ride Off into the Sunset..
It's one of those irregular verbs:
I am determined
You are strong willed
He/She is stubborn as a mule

Re: Ride Off into the Sunset..
The Trucks have gone up the road....they are taking all of you away from me today....and I'm sitting here trying to think of what to say.
How to thank you...How to tell you how much you've meant ,to be a part of my life.
Saying good bye to one friend is very hard for me, as I don't let go easy...but to say good bye to so many ..I find it impossible.
Many of you have given me your phone numbers, locations and full names...
and I'm honored that you'd trust me so much...you've been my family for some time now, and I love you all..and will miss you so very much.
....and to Kiss...............I'll never forget you, God ,I don't have the words..
Some men claim to have seen angels,...but I have seen thee...and thou art enough...
Now,.. lets just let the spur run the nail...

I was hoping for some last minute miracle. This really sucks. Take care of yourself little brother. You'll be sadly missed. It suddenly feels like there's been a death in the family
