I've met ,and been with a few women that were considered by many as "old souls"....but a soulmate is something I've experienced maybe twice.
I just happened to run across her by chance, and at the time, I had no idea that I was meeting a woman that would truly understand me. I'd like to think I'm not that complex....maybe I just have alot of baggage.
She would put up with my protectiveness, that would border on jealousy , she would put me in my place when I needed it, or let my temper control the situation for awhile, then gently bring me back to myself.
She understood that my scars inside ,and out, are just a part of my make-up,....because she had her own.
She would put up with my walkabouts, when I would disappear in the wilderness for weeks, and not hear from me , and she would wait...to welcome me back.
She truly understood ,that betrayal is the worst thing you can do to someone, and she trusted me with her most fragile emotions........and when I let her down....she would eventually forgive , and understand.
A soulmate is a rare thing to find, but there is a magnetism that will draw the two together, and to fight that natural coupling , is to kill part of yourself.

You've been quoting the Dalai lama alot ......you planning a trip up here to seek the Center of the Universe ?
Deadman-Vidette can be a strange and haunted place, and you wouldn't want to get lost...like all those Buddhist Monks I find wandering in the high country....You may need a guide, and I do happen to know one.
He's not all that handsome...but he's kinda handy....and he knows his way there and back.
The monks say in order to find it, your intentions must be honourable.

The physical attraction is first...the animalistic part..or lust...to understand someones soul takes time....perhaps the quality we find alluring, is the seed that starts the understanding.
Intimate relationships that have unconditional love , attraction, and absolute trust can also be very meaningful, and unchanging......transending even death.
A relationship based on looks alone ,is most definatley doomed to eventual failure.

That was truly beautifully said Syb. Like NRG I met him, and loved him unfortunately we were too young to see what we really had, I lost him on my 21st birthday to a tree.

I've never searched.
I had a strong feelings toward a slightly older man . I saw him in my dreams. When we met, there was an instant attraction. I would become nervous every time we spoke. I never dreamed he would pursue me. However, he was a wild man. Untamed, and I could never fully trust him.
There was one young man I met, and after two days, he swore we were soul mates. However, his ethnic heritage was a little primitive for me.
Maybe another?
I don't know? Seems there is a strong connection, but it is...... umm, complicated.

I believe I have found a soul mate the poplin being we are bot married, but we manage to share our lives and take care of each emotionally and an otherwise. life changes suddenly realizing Thai the things you took for granted and the things you cherished are maybe not forever as you thought. I have seen and done things that were the backbone of of my my whole existence are now very very much a treasure to be shared with someone that understands and appreciates you for what you are your soul mate. I have had some great relationships. All except three ended well. One guy became super stalker. One was my ex husband that just needs to get a life that doesn't include torturing me and my children and the third, is a guy I dated for years but he just can't let go so I felt it better to end all contact. He still tries after several years but I just don't answer thinking it's better that way.
Of course the best relationship I have ever had is my current one with Kam. I honestly thought there was one in my life that was "The" one for a long time. But the longer I am with Kam the more I realize how that other relationship ended just as it should have and we remained friends just as we should have. Kam and I have a interesting relationship. I think he is the first person I ever met that truly not just gets me , but he excepts me and even finds many of my issues funny where many would just find the same things frustrating. I love many of the things about him that he says just drove other women in his life crazy. I have said many times that I feel like I should send his previous women thank you cards.I love spending time with him and I hate when we are apart for weeks at a time.Besides having a fantastic sex life we just laugh so much when we are together.I love him more and differently than I have ever with anyone else.
To answer Kiss's question, it was totally by chance that we even came to talk to each other. Neither of us were looking to get into a relationship.
