Hunting season....
Here we are again ....it's hunting season in Canada....and every asshole with an ATV, and a rifle is drawn like a magnet to my highland range pastures.
Many are respectful , and aware of private property...it's the few weekend warriors that will spoil it for everyone else.
I just hope none of my cattle get shot, or harassed in some way this year .
You know I wonder how they would like it if I camped in their backyard, shot their animals, pissed in their water supply, ignored "No Trespassing" signs, set fire to their landscaping, cut down their trees, drove over their grass, dismantled their fencing....and left bottles and cans in my fire ring when I left.......oh,..
and lets not forget the odd stray bullet ....
I have to shake my head when they see me sitting there on my horse, on MY property...with "I don't call 911" engraved on my rifle scabbard....they say..."Geez....You don't seem real friendly "...or..."What,.. do you think you own the whole mountainside".....actually asshole....Yes I do, and all I ask is for you to leave me and my stock alone.

Re: Hunting season....
They live in large cities. They dont have yards nor stock. Just a bus pass, maybe a Prius.

Re: Hunting season....
I've had a few out of state hunters that didn't take me serious. Most of my land & my dads isn't posted. The cattle we always kept in a back pasture that isn't accessible without going through another pasture, which neither are hardly prime hunting spots since its just Buffalo grass. If I had ever seen someone shooting the cows, I can safely say, there would be a missing hunter. The farm land was mostly left unlisted, although I've always considered it common courtesy to ask first. But about. 10 yrs ago I was trying to help my nephew started in hunting, so I posted this one tiny 7 acre cane field just for him, in theory, with nobody hunting it, there was good odds that pheasants might gather since it wouldn't be hunted by the "Sportsmen " that show up in 5 pickup trucks & 2 dozen dogs. But as I drove towards the spot, I see 2 pickups parked at the gate which was where the NO HUNTING.sign was, 3 men & a dog had started hunting it. I called to them & told them to get out. They came back, I chewed their asses for thinking they had special.exemption from rules since they would be helping me by spending a lot of money during their week long trip. I told them they helped the motel, the cafe, the gas station, & probably the bar, but their hunting trip has never improved my bank account. I was even nice enough to tell them where we had 9 other Milo, & corn fields that weren't posted. & I'd gotten pheasants there since I started hunting. They left & I left. But just to make sure, since they'd already ignored the signs once, I went back. Sure as hell, they were back, & about halfway through the field. Realizing that there had been a serious communication breakdown, I grabbed the mini 14 & put about 10 holes in each pickup box. They now were making world class speed to me yelling unintelligible syllables, but I had a fair idea what they were they were saying. They wanted my name so they could report me to the Sher riff. I gave them my name, I gave them the number to the sheriffs depth, & told them to say hello for me since I hadn't talked to my brother for several days. Yes my brother really is the sheriff, & tell him I'll be there in a few hours to press charges of. tresspassing against everyone of you. Most ppl are pretty decent, but once in a while one that thinks he should get special privileges.

Re: Hunting season....
NRG - NICE!!!
I own 50 acres, hardly enough for hunting IMO and a good 1/2 of it is within the village limits. yes there are trees & open fields but there are freaking houses that surround it and I don't know about your dumbass & downstate gun but mine can fire a bullet from one property line clearly to the other, where my neighbors kids and pets play! So if you feel the need to hunt then head on over to state land where 50 of your downstate neighbors are also wielding loaded weapons, and loaded w/ a 6 pack or two - if you are lucky maybe you'll shoot yourself one of them Long Island jackasses!

Re: Hunting season....
Older woman standing out in the front yard in her nightgown with a shotgun. She lowered the gun as the truck passed by then raised it again. And shot...the thieving squirrel that's been raiding her bird feeder. Wasn't it nice of her to wait until the season opened?
