Cloning Lennon?? WTF??
Just saw on the news that some dentist paid $31,000 for an old tooth that was extracted from John Lennon so that he can extract his DNA for purposes of cloning him. Is that really necessary?

Re: Cloning Lennon?? WTF??
It's actually kind of scary. It seems to me that the purpose of that would be to have another John Lennon.
Since we are the result of not only our dna but also the sum total of our experiences and how we reacted to them, the expectation that any of us could be recreated, is laughable.
But when you get into the practicalities of it. What is going to have to happen to this poor kid that never asked for this to become the new John Lennon? A clone would still be a person. And with the amount of pressure that would come with being the clone of someone as famous as he, wouldn't it be more likely for the clone to shy away from music entirely?

Re: Cloning Lennon?? WTF??
Excellent point Jen. I'm obviously no scientist, but if they did clone him, I dont know if his talent could be cloned.

Honey, I'm no scientist. I've been a stay at home mom for the most part. But I have that insatiable need to know why. And a thing for science fiction. lol Yep, I'm a total nerd.
It seems to me that our genes, our dna, simply holds a predisposition to be one way or another. Our trials and triumphs are what guide us to become what we are. But that's the nature vs. nurture debate and could probably use it's own thread...
Umm who is John Lennon anyway?
