I lost a calf to a Moutain Lion today,...So I've got four hounds coming from the Government for the weekend, with a Government hunter as well.
If all goes well I'll be back by Saturday afternoon,...or he may run twenty miles before he goes up a tree.
In that case I'll see you all next week.

I have a question about your "Cow situation". I know they make things like "Bear proof" garbage cans and "Hurricane proof" storm doors and windows.I know they are not perfect but they do help somewhat.I can't imagine that they don't have some type of "cow proof" or at least deterrent door. Then again, why would they make that because how many cows go walking into peoples houses? Bear, deer and a few other critters are more likely.And bears don't care if they have to remove a door if something smells good enough. Okay, so maybe they wouldn't call it "cow proof" doors but something that maybe works as a deterrent? Of course another idea would be to build a better system so your cow wouldn't come to visit in the house.Maybe he just missed you.

Sorry, but I would have been more upset if I found a skunk in my house than a cow.lol

Bears are a huge issue where my brother lives. Of course it would be helpful if stupid people would stop leaving food out for them. We occasionally had cat issues up there and our house up state as well. We found evidence of some type of cat one time and the trooper said it was a bobcat. I didn't even know we had bob cats up there. Turned out we had a neighbor down the road that thought it was just a large household type cat and was feeding it. Dumb ass people!

I was approached by a very nice family that was blessed with a pile of little girls, some biological, some adopted.
They are going backpacking into a chain of three lakes about two hours from me, and they invited me along for company.
It seems that they took a vote as a family as to whom they would like to invite along.
All the young ladies are under 13, and they wanted someone with experience along to help out ,and have one more male in their group besides the father.
We will be hiking in 6 hours, and camping beside a small lake that has 3 glaciers on its shores.
So we will be walking half the day ,with complaining girls, to sleep on the ground next to 200 foot high, giant blocks of ice...
I just found out that there is a road that goes all the way to that lake,.......and we are WALKING !!????

Well the most dangerous thing I've done lately is

So I've been working on my log barn for about 6 years now...and I thought it would be kinda cool to have coloured concrete in the tack room.
So I went to Home Depot and bought myself some tan concrete paint...and the sales girl with the very noticeable heart shaped butt said.."Your going to need primer before you apply that....Whatever you do , don't use a rubber bladed trowel to spread it out, it melts rubber on contact !"

"Yeah Yeah, alright I hear you." I thought, I'm not an idiot.
I strolled out of the Home Depot quite pleased that most tack rooms in this area are dirt floors, and mine will be coloured concrete.
I rolled out the primer and noticed the fumes were strong....and I also noticed that a few puddles were forming near the center of the room...And my Cowboy wisdom took hold and I thought...Shit I'll just step into the room one giant step and spread those puddles out with a broom.

Now my barn broom is made of nylon fibres, and those bristles left one big black streak in the floor that looked like King Kong had just wiped his butt.
Just about then...I smelled something funny, kinda like burning rubber..
Now my work boots are Justin made....and have a half inch rubber sole, which had glued themselves to the floor covered with chemical concrete commercial primer....I had to pry them from the floor with a flat shovel after slipping out of them and dancing in my socks to a dry spot.
I'm still trying to figure out how to peel my wool socks off without loosing a quarter inch skin...

I still sticking to the theory I'm not an idiot... but my confidence in that assumption seems to be fading fairly fast.

So last time I was in town I bought myself a new indoor floor mat with the rubber backing, because I felt I needed a new one for winter.
My giant Rotweiller decided he didn't like the way it smelled, or the colour it was, ...or maybe he wanted the old one back, I don't know what he's thinking half the time anyways.

Now remember.....He's an asshole.

So after a very long days work, he and I walked inside, and I removed my work boots because I'd just cleaned the house the morning before....and I thought ,"It sure is nice to have a new rubber backed floormat inside the door , that doesn't fold up and slide around, when your on it removing your winter boots."

I went to my kitchen and poured myself a stiff afterwork drink and was day-dreaming about my trip I'm about to take....and I heard a rustling and flapping near or around the front door.
Which I chose to put on ignore...I tend to do that a lot.

After a few minutes of silence,....my giant dog joined me in the kitchen....What a good loyal boy.
Suddenly out of no place I caught a wiff of burning rubber, which I couldn't put on ignore....and my Fireman spidey senses kicked in, and I ran for the fuse box to kill all the power in the castle I'd built myself ,that I was sure was going to burn down around me.....at that moment my fire alarms started sounding off...and I looked up to my lights and sure enough...SMOKE!!
I ran to the front door for my boots to retrieve my fire extinguisher that was next to my still in my shop.....{I felt that was the most likley place I'd have an unexpected explosion.}
I glanced at the woodstove next to the front door and my new rubber backed floormat had been thrown on top of my red hot woodstove....and was belching black smoke.

It seems my dog didn't like the floormat, had picked it up and thrashed it back and forth and let it go like an asshole.....placing it on top of my wood burning heat source ,that was at full volume on account of it being -19 outside......

So now I'm scraping off blackened rubber bits made in China, from a woodstoves surface made in Canada....caused by a Rotweiller made in Germany......I guess I'll be buying another new floormat.

Seriously Kiss...You'd look even hotter with this big handsome drooler on a leash walking next to you....I'll pay the shipping charges.
