ODIN!!!!! (game/challenge)
Gonna do something pretty dumb here, a Viking raid game...go to another website/forum anyway and "steal" a topic, bring the plunders back here.

New Statistics
"Am I the only one surprised to find out that the average American bra size is no 34 DD.
Growing up and if you listen to all pop music Double D was the oh my size.
Now I find out it is average!
Of course average is meaningless .. and frankly size of chest is not all that relevant but I was a little surprised to find out it was average "

There is a Viking village that predates Columbus in Newfoundland....and in the Arctic, the Inuit, or Eskimo can construct a crossbow of European origin.
The legend says the "Gods" who taught them had red hair and wore horns on their head, and were called the white archers...to this day, out of every 500 Inuit born, one will have blue eyes.

It is a myth that the Vikings had horns on their helmets. The image was popularised by Wagner's operas but there is no historical or architectural evidence for it.

People with Norse genetics will later in life develop a lump in the middle of their hand called a Viking mark....or maybe it's from overzealous friction. ......I don't remember.
My Dads appeared at about 60 years of age....and my days of looting and pilaging haven't started yet..

Virile Norse men rampaged through Scotland, Ireland and Iceland impregnating locals and mixing their Viking genes in the native populations.
There's some fascinating genetic research that's been done in Iceland on the origins of the settlers. Looking at mitochondrial DNA passed down through females, it is clear that 80%+ of the male settlers were Scandinavians, but anything up to 60% of the women who accompanied them were of British and Irish extraction. The suggestion being that settler's left the fjords, found themselves a wife in Britain and Ireland and then went to Iceland. There's also a small, but significant genetic component amongst Icelanders which is today only found in North American Indians, suggesting that there was prolonged contact (ahem) between the two cultures.
It was possible that Vikings landed on the coast of Canada, but any human settlements there died out.
The Vikings DID land on the coast of Canada, many times. There is a well preserved settlement at L'Anse aux Meadows on Newfoundland.
