What the hell is a stumpage fee?
It's like a tax on every tree you cut down and sell on the world market, any tree thats alive or green is taxed , then a clean up is done, and three trees are replanted in it's place.
The fee is payable to the government [provincial] on any woodfibre cut on Crown Land , and varies from region to region, but is usually under ten dollars a tree, but can go as high as twenty five for old growth timber.

Kamloops is a real place, named after Fort Kamloops, in the 1800's, on the Hudson's Bay Brigade Trade route,... It's also a Shushwap Indian name for "beside the river",...or something like that.
...and Bendover Fl....in my twisted reality, ....is a real freakin' place too.

There's been an ad campaign going around here about giving motorists a free broken window with every pet left unattended in a vehicle, during the heatwave we've been having. The ad adds, "Break the back one, It'll cost more."...

Re: Kamloops in the News....
Kamloops in the News again..!!
It seems a Saudi National was shooting his mouth off in a local cowboy bar called Cactus Jacks.
He was praising the Taliban, and their efforts toward their treatment of women , and their enforcemnt of the Taliban laws to a bunch of cowboy hat wearing ranch boys, fresh off the range...
It seems one fellow didn't take kindly to the fact of his life, and his families lives, being threatened, and preformed a labotomy with a pool que on the complaintant.
It seems excessive force was used , causing the Arab man to lose his eye , and also causing a slight amount of brain damage. Although from my personal experience the Taliban and their supporters arent that bright to begin with.
The case is slowly moving its way through the British Columbia court system.
FYI.....I wasn't there....and I find that kind of force a little excessive....although the story did make me smile a little, in my opinion the cowboy should have used better judgement...and shuved the stick up the complaintants ass.
But thats just my opinion.

Aren't both ends of that against Sharia Law? In cases like that would the violator and violated have to stone each other?

Re: Kamloops in the News....
There are several laws that were passed over the past few years to protect animals. In theory children and animals were covered in other laws but the police seemed to be confused so they got more specific.I have a family member that helped get some of these laws passed so I knew they existed.
My son came across a dog locked in a car at the mall in extreme cold. He called me because he was going to work. It was dangerously cold out. The law here specifies what you are allowed to do or not do in extreme temperatures. The problem was the police didn't want to enforce the law. Then they tried to say it was "subjective" if it was to cold out. I was pissed!I called every animal group in the area and the police several times. Finally the police tracked down the owner who was in the mall for several hours. He was given a warning. I think he should have been issued a ticket and the dog taken away. The law in this state specifies what temperature is considered to hot or to cold. The problem was what they consider shelter and when a dog or other animal is considered to be in distress. They are supposed to have blankets and/or other things the animal can lay on or in to warm up. In this case it was a small dog with nothing to stay warm. Some dogs do better in cold than others this one was not one that did well in cold at all.The police did something only because I insisted and this dog was shaking so much that my daughter(Who went to the mall that day as well) was going to break the window and take the dog out if they didn't do something.
The break the window law is in many states now. The courts are starting to crack down of animal abuse but it has a long way to go.
