Franken Food...
If you could have your meat, chemical, anti-biotic , and hormone free, would you be willing to pay a little more for it , or would it matter at all to you ?
The demographic of my target consumer, is under 30 years of age, and I'm curious as to why..or do you just buy what costs the least , either beef , pork ,or chicken ?
Another thing that I'd like to ask is....If you could put a face or name to the person [ Rancher, or Farmer ] growing the food you would buy ,and consume, like information about the place it's grown, how it's raised ,or who produced it...would it matter to you ?

Re: Franken Food...
For me it would depend on how much more. everything here is expensive. My mother is in town and has been going nuts with what things cost here. She had to buy a cake mix and could not believe it was $2.00 or more depending on the brand.
I think Knowing where it is from would make a big difference for a lot of people. around here they like to buy from the local people.

Re: Franken Food...
Not if it came from a certain ranch in Canada cuz it probably has pink eye, cancer eye. lump jaw, foot rot, 13 different brands, several prolapses, 9 different impants in each. Has so many ear notches the each look like a daisy.
No teeth, a Decal for LA 200 on her butt, has so many rope burns that it looks like a basket. Other than that I'd buy it in a heart beat. OCB

Ya can buy food that isn't already cooked?--kidding.
For me, the more I know about what I buy/ consume the better off I am. I must admit that reading the ingredients in 99% of "food" makes me not want to eat. I think cats and dogs eat better than most humans.
As far as the endorsee? Not sure. That isn't as important to me as what's actually in the stuff.

I'd go off on a rant about GMO's and growing organic food, but there's a character limit per post...

Re: Franken Food...
I know here , the term organic , free range etc. gets an eyeroll at the supermarket.
In Europe , you can scan the barcode at the cooler, and find out who produced the food, what meds were used, how old it is, how was it processed, and where it came from..
I know myself as a producer of naturally raised beef, meaning grass fed on a mountainside, if i go and purchase bulk organic grain for my beef cows, the cost is very prohibitive.
I have seen a movement here to link the consumer, to the producer on a commercial level...in esscence...put a face to the food we are putting in our bodies, at a slightly higher cost than traditionally raised protiens

We have raised our own meat and usually have a garden. Even get milk from the local dairy. Any price is worth it to feel good.

Re: Franken Food...
I buy my beef & pork from local farm . I am not a life off the land gal, so I know I am getting more than my fair share of chemical crap in my food, But local farm raised meat, local farmers markets always a preference, but no question eating good for you is increasingly tougher in this economy but cheaper than the medical treatments resulting from resulting chemicals infused into your body.

Re: Franken Food...
This has been a huge subject in my home for ever. If I could afford to by organic, chemical free, free range, blah blah food I would. We can't even buy truly organic raw milk unless you buy into this type of group that essentially makes you part owner so you can purchase the milk. You can't just buy it in a store. Labels are misleading. Knowing where my food comes from is also important for several reasons. I like to know if the animals are cared for in a cruelty free way, and chemically free way etc...Where it comes from is also important for the environment. If I buy tomatoes from a local grower it didn't need to be trucked very far that's a good thing. I don't even buy make up that is made by certain companies due to their practices and/or where it might be made.
So to answer you directly yes, I like the safest and most natural food and other products I can buy. Yes I want to know where and who my food and other products come from. Yes I would and do pay more when I can afford to. I have even cut back on some things because I would rather do without some things than buy something that is offensive or dangerous in my eyes. For example I don't buy Veal because of the way the animals are treated to produce it. I don't buy Foie Gras because the way it is made is so cruel.I try to avoid whenever possible things from China due to more reasons than I can list here.It would be nice if my money situation would allow me to buy all things I buy with a conscience.

Yes, and we still end up with horse meat being passed off as beef!
