Memorial Day Meals
Memorial Day represents the traditional start of the outdoor cooking season. You might be grilling hamburgers, steaks, chicken or fish or maybe smoking ribs or brisket. Fried chicken is always a favorite. Along with some traditional Potato Salad or Cole Slaw. Throw on a couple of Hot Dogs for the kids.
Don't forget the drinks, ice tea, sangria, or beer.
Great desserts include Flag Cake, Ice Cream Sandwich Cake, Cream Cheese Dipped Strawberries, Patriotic Cupcakes, Apple Pie, Strawberry Pie, Blueberry Pie, Mixed Berry Pie, Rhubarb Pie, Red Velvet Cupcakes, and Patriotic Poke cake!!!!!

Re: Memorial Day Meals
Being that my oven hasn't worked since the hurricane I won't be baking but, I will be using the grill for chicken, steaks or london broil, maybe ribs and turkey burgers.. I most likely will stick to fruit and maybe a couple of deserts that I can make without cooking or something I can ,make on the stove top. Of course this is dependent of if I can get the gas tank filled.I hate when I forget to fill the tank before a holiday weekend. Many places we used to fill them at are not up and running yet.

Re: Memorial Day Meals
my lunch special today was an "American Hero Burger" with Fries or Tater Tots. (basically a cheese burger, topped with sauteed green peppers, mushrooms, and onions that were marinated in A-1 steak sauce) the cheese was of course "American Cheese" hence the AMERICAN in the name.

Trust me ...Amish potato salad has twice the amount of eggs, finley grated dill pickles , and mustard in it.
It is always served with szweibach buns [made with potato water], and farmer sausage as well....no Kiss....not that kind of farmer sausage.
