Re: Oklahoma
It's hard to even turn on the news. Everytime we seem to be getting past one horrific event it seems we as a country if not a world get kicked again. The one thing that even the coldest of hearts can't handle is when these horrific events hit the children.Sorry but I'm not going to pray. I'm to angry! I would really rather kick mother nature in the face.
I don't know if I can even watch the news anymore.

Saw this morning a live video of a woman finding her dog alive in the wreckage of her home. Small miracles in a big tragedy.

Re: Oklahoma
I know we don't technically live in a war zone but looking at some of the footage from these areas you would never know it. I don't know how these people can recover from these hits one after another. I know from personal experience I have not repaired from a storm that happened months ago yet because waiting for contractors, materials, insurance and all the other crap takes a long time. They just told everyone here to prepare for another Sandy type storm this hurricane season. How the fuck do you truly prepare for that! The people in Oklahoma get hit after hit with minutes notice at best. I can't imagine.I'm to the point that I want to live in a bunker to keep my family safe. It just doesn't work like that in life. Is there truly anywhere that is ideally safe? How do you go back to "normal" when your world just got ripped up by the roots? Realistically there is no way we can hurricane proof my house or tornado proof Oklahoma. Are we supposed to find the safest place and jam everyone in there? I wish there was an easy answer. And for those who say I shouldn't live here. I am not in a flood zone and there has never even been a flood at my house not anywhere I lived in 51 years. I lie. There was one storm several years ago that flooded a town I had a house in because we got 17 inches of rain in one day. Even the hurricane didn't flood my house It was rain, wind and electrical surges that damaged my house. What can be done for people living in Oklahoma and other areas that are tornado prone? Or fire prone areas? We can't rebuild every home to tornado proof standards or fire or flood. So what can we do?

Re: Oklahoma
we had one go though Merrill 3 years ago, their still picking up the pieces, the trees didn't recover, houses still missing or the land is for sale, we took a tour of council grounds state park, wiped out all the old growth trees hopped across the river and left a scar miles long.
why would anyone live in a area like that.

Re: Oklahoma
I've asked that but most people have their reasons for where they live. Sometimes they believe it when authorities say "We can keep you safe", as in the people of New Orleans. Sometimes you go where the family, work or other commitments take you. Sometimes its what you can afford. So many people leave where I am because of what it costs. I can't tell you how many people I know that moved to places that seem to have crazy weather every other day. I ask why they moved there and they almost always say "The houses and taxes are so much lower".
