Going Quiet
I have some shit happening here that I need to deal with.
I have been putting down calves and stitching up the survivors all day.
It seems the wolves I tracked ,that usually stay in the high timber up in the alpine , have decided to target me and my stock.
I'm posting this so you all know why I'm going a little quiet,and may not be around as much....Please don't worry, I'm fine, but this has brought back some deeply buried memories for me....so if you see me here, which may be rare,as i'll be gone from home alot till this is over, and I don't talk or post for the next while...it's nothing personal.

Understand, but hope you get things taken care of and don't stay away too long.
I expect we'll see more threats from coyotes this year than last year even, we usually gauge things by the rabbit population which is a main source of food for them.
I ran a coyote off from my neighbors drive just a year or so back, and I live in a residential area.

Awww dang it, 21 is a pretty high death toll. I do hope the pack has moved on. I truly do.
When I lived on the farm, I did so much to protect and care for the flock and predator proof the coop, but sometimes something would get to 'em. Lost nearly the whole coop one year to a mink.
I don't know how most farmers and ranchers feel, but I know we sometimes have this strong sense that we failed them (animals, livestock) a sense that we failed to protect them in spite of doing all possible to protect them. It's a harsh feeling for sure.
(Side note...that mink was a beautiful creature, but had to trap and shoot him, his fur brought a good price and paid to restock my coop)

I had a very strong feeling of failure, and I felt like I put them in a position of vulnerability.....I felt like I was torturing these poor animals for profit, and I also had a strong feeling of vengeance. I took it very personally, and to heart.
I talked about it yesterday with friends in here, and I'm thankful for that, I lean on you guys sometimes, and I just need to say ...from my heart..Thank you
My cowgirl hiredhand is very traumatized by the whole ordeal, and I find her crying, when she thinks I'm not around, and she's not ready to talk about it.
My cousins arrive today from the hills, they are descending on this place like the Sacketts, to give a hand.....and if you people think I'm a little different, you should see these guys, even their horses are mean.

It has come to my attention , having 3 cousins of mine here, that I may just be a royal pain in the ass.
We are very similar in our attitudes and outlook on our lives...and they are driving me insane.They are here to help, and I love them for it, none of them like to eat the same thing, my house is almost always tidy, but they leave their shit EVERYWHERE. They let their horses graze my lawn, they sleep anywhere they please,and they all fucking snore .When they talk about something, it's like listening to myself...only three times over , and a little louder.
My cowgirl hiredhand says it's like having four big brothers around and she's never felt so annoyed, and so safe at the same time.
I love them to death, and it's good to have family around...but I just have to ask.. why do you people put up with me ?

Yes I made that mistake....Now one wants to become a member, and set everyone here straight on what I'm really like....He's got a huge crush on a few women here.
If I go through a weak moment I may help him set up a membership...He's not so good on computers, which seems to be a genetic thing in our family.
If a new member shows up with the name Eliah, from Dog Creek or Williams Lake...I've never heard of him...and he don't know shit.
