Re: Today IS.....Earth Day
The Inuit have 600 words for the formations of ice and snow, with a story line, or "song line" that reaches back hundreds of thousands of years.
In their song line , according to them, the wind has never blown in the direction it does now , and the ice has never behaved as it does today.
There are also garbage dumps exposed inside of glaciers, that date back almost 60 thousand years, being exposed from them melting, due to global warming.
Even in the short time I have lived here, in a semi arid northern climate, I have seen cedar trees take root and try to survive, and the Native Indians say they have never been here. Our winters here at 2600 feet ,are milder and shorter, melting the snow from the mountain tops earlier, and quicker, affecting spawning seasons for salmon, and everything else that relies on them...creating a chain reaction with consequences that we are yet to see.

Re: Today IS.....Earth Day
I'm glad that its being called "Climate Change" and not "Global Warming". Climate change has been constantly occurring since the beginning of time and no one can deny that it's happening now. I just disagree with the reasons that the Global Warming gang is claiming what the causes are.

Actually Free I agree, and I should have used Climate Change instead of Global warming.
In Iceland an Environmental Scientist drilled about a mile down into a glacier.
He discovered that Climate change has happened several times , and likened it to the earth breathing. The earth warming and cooling with several expansions and contractions of ice ages had happened many times, and was a natural occurrence.
At first he was laughed at by his counterparts...now not so much.
Having said that, he also discovered that it had never happened so rapidly...the top layer of "modern" ice had vast amounts of fossil fuel contaminants.
His conclusion was that what we are going through right now, is natural warming, at an accelerated rate , due to pollution.

Re: Today IS.....Earth Day
Little known trivia here; The co-founder of, "Earth-Day" is Ira Einhorn. Some know him as, "The Unicorn", but most know him as the guy who killed his girlfriend and hid the body in a chest in his apartment for over a year, before she was discovered. He was reported as saying, "he was composting her for future earth-days..."
