I had two goldfish commit suicide when I was a boy. The first one just jumped out of the tank overnight and my mum was very upset when she found it in the morning. To stop it happening again she put a hair net over the tank, and yes, you guessed it, the next week the other fish had tried to jump out and got caught in the hairnet so was hanging dead when we came down in the morning. Looked like a scene from the Wild West with the baddie having been hanged by the Sheriff!

Cats like fish...Myth. They like the thrill of the hunt, but not the eating what you kill part. You'll probably find the dead fish in a spot that will boggle the mind. Cats will eat fish if it's cooked, but they're not all into the whole sushi thing...

Depending on how warm the house is...you may find it in about a week.

Re: OK who ate him?
4 inch long goldfish is hard to miss, i even looked with a flash light,no trace of it.then my black kat , he likes raw fish just fine, thats how he got nutted and clawed, from eating my gold angels that were hand size, but the worst part was he kept sticking a claw though the silicone trying to get up on top to do his fishing, get up in the morning and 50 gals of water be missing and the carpets soaked, just glad there was no ceiling in the basement , thats were all the water ended up. so to the vet he goes, the gray kitten has claws but i dont think she likes fish muchless raw and the tiger, well she just too fussy tooo.
but the gray cat shes got claw and be the only one that could climb 6 feet up to the top of the stand and she use to sit on top when it was on the bottom, but i didnt see no footie prints on the cover. im sure one of them got a good meal

Re: OK who ate him?
My kids went to a marine science school so we had lots of fish as well as all the ones they had to take care of at the schools web lab. I was always amazed where we would find fish sometimes. I even had a few get out with the cover on. I found some in the filter or a tube. I found a skeleton under the gravel in one tank after a fish had disappeared a while earlier.I'm not saying the cat is innocent but don't be shocked if you smell something "fishy" in a few days. Some fish even eat each other. (NOT IN A GOOD WAY)

Re: OK who ate him?
Got an outside cat now, someone in the neighborhood moved and decided not to take their cat with them (idiots)
He's a hunter, last prey he got was a squirrel, kinda rare for a cat to be able to catch a squirrel. He's left "presents" on our front porch, the usual...mice, birds, bunnies...
