I would tell myself that to go and defend the defenseless comes at a great cost to oneself..
To not give your heart so quickly, and that sometimes the person closest to you, that you care so much for....will rip a piece of it out , but you can get it back, and that the scars will remind you, of the sacrifices it means to be a good man.
To live and love life, and not judge whom others love..
...and to recognize who are your enemies, and pick your battles, and to know who your angels are.
...and never stand behind a horse thats pissed off with you.

Companionship is something most desire. There s nothing wrong with it. Why do so many people feel guilty about wanting it and feel that because they lost someone they are supposed to not want it anymore? The time that it feels right for you is the right time. Don't feel guilty about that.Do you think she would want you to sit around being lonely when she can't be there fir you anyway? If she loved you don;t you think she would want you to have a full happy life with all that it has to offer?
