The price of fame?
If you were paid a butt load of money to be the long term spokesperson for something like oh....herpes medication, yeast infection cures, anal itch cream, etc...knowing that you would be on multi media flood of ads like TV ads, billboards, print ad and spend possibly the rest of your life with people recognizing you, pointing and saying something like "Hey, it's the Herpes guy!!
Would it be worth it?

Re: The price of fame?
I think it would depend on the product. "The Herpes Guy" wouldnt really bother me, providing there was a LOT of money involved as well as residuals.
However, there's NO amount of money that I would accept to be known as something like "The Bull Semen Harvester". Besides, Syb is already the Poster Child for that one.

Ah, now I understand that ZZ Top song...
He was gettin' bombed,
And it was gettin' blown away,
And he held it in his hand
And this is what he had to say:
A pearl necklace.
He wanna pearl necklace.
He wanna pearl necklace.
He's so cold, as pure as the driven slush.
And that's not jewelry he's talkin' about,
It really don't cost that much.
He was gettin' bombed,
And it was gettin' blown away,
And he took it in his hand,
And this is what he had to say:
A pearl necklace.
He wanna pearl necklace.
He wanna pearl necklace.

Sure, why not. It would have to be a very large butt load though.

Famous, nah.....to be in the band behind a famous star? That's the ticket! While they spend day after day staying up late, getting up early to do radio and TV interviews, promo crap....the band is fishing or golfing or...whatever. All the while making a great living seeing the world doing what they love to do.

That'd depend on the band. Some cases the entire band goes to all those interviews. You do have the correct idea though.

Re: The price of fame?
HELL NO!!!! It isn't even because of what product I would be recognized for that would bother me. It's the being recognized that sucks!!!I have been recognized for many local commercials I have done and my kids have as well and that's bad enough and more annoying than you can imagine. I have also been around many "celebrities" varying from local to huge "movie stars" or "world political and entertainment personalities".I wouldn't want their life for anything. There is not enough money on the planet to make it worth it to me. The only way you could ever get me to go that route is if it were to save my child's life. I have been with celebrities when you can't go a step without being bothered or eat a meal or get on a plane or even go to the bathroom.
NO WAY should anyone ever have to endure that.I think paparazzi should be outlawed and there should be a standing protection order that no one can approach a celebrity unless asked too.The reason so many of them like NY is because many find that they can walk around without being mobbed for the most part. I bet most people would say they would hate being recognized if they were in a position like that for even one hour. It is torturous. For those who say "it comes with the territory and they should just suck it up" should think about it... If you are good at your job does that mean people should be allowed to annoy you?

LoL..I wish I had photosof some of the pits we stayed in...what I meant though was be behind the star...I have been in bands and done radio interviews, but were a "band"..I mean to be in the band..when I warmed up for Trace Adkins and Jo Dee Messina.....her bands were unknown, in the back...show over, they leave she signs autographs for a couple hours....I mean the unknown band member.

Re: The price of fame?
Good in theory Grandelf. I never understood the people that fall over celebrities.I never understood why someone would want it either.Safety reasons alone are enough to make me say hell no. I think it's sad that people are so obsessed with celebrity. These people that entertain us are still people like you and I.
There are many people that I admire as far as their talent but that doesn't make me want to fall all over them.I never idolized anyone in sports or entertainment.Maybe growing up in a place where celebrities are as everyday as a cup of coffee make me have a different view of things. I was a huge gymnastics fan but never felt like I would die to meet Mary Lou Retton or any one else, although I admired her talent, dedication and hard work. There are musicians I love to listen to but no desire to meet them. There are actors I love but again have very little desire to meet them. I guess its the same way I see people on here. I sometimes get to know a bit about someone and think "I bet they are interesting or fun to hang out with" so I might want to meet a few people based on that. Johnny Depp and Robin Williams would be good examples of people I think are interesting as people. As for being in the position they are in, I think its insane. Can you just imagine having a life where you can't go anywhere without a bodyguard?
Grandelf has a great point. What if you could do what you love most make all the money you dreamed of and still keep you anonymity? Now that would be great!
