Valentines Day gift...For Men
Besides the obvious gift for your man...like buying him a new personality..or giving him the banging of his life, that'll dent the headboard..What do you ladies think ,WE ..want for Valentines day ?
I know if I received a Henry 1860 , lever action , brass receivered, 44-40,. I'd be your sex slave forever...nothing..and I mean nothing, says I love you like a Henry rifle...F&^*K the chocolate, and sappy cards..well, or maybe a blow job...I don't know.

Re: Valentines Day gift...For Men
All I would appreciate for Valentines Day is that everything I offer with a heart on is warmly and deeply accepted and cherished for all it's worth.

I would like your response better if there werent question marks at the end of it. Exclamation points would have made the remark better received. Like this - !!!!!!

The damn thing is rock solid, and weighs about 450 lbs..I had to build it inside the bedroom, because of the weight...my ex failed to see the humour in sleeping on the couch for a few days. It was one of the few things she had no choice in leaving behind when she vacated the ranch...Although the mattress set seemed to have legs, and made it into the horse trailer.
As I've mentioned before the corner posts are built fom a peeled tree, struck by lightning, so it has a curled scar circling around it.

Re: Valentines Day gift...For Men
My brother started building one of those beds . Not an easy job, the marriage ended before he finished it.
I wish I would have asked him to give it to me rather than trash it. (Bad feeling that went with the ex wife) But even if he did give it to me I think about what you said. How the hell would I get it in the house never mind my bedroom. I have a California King with a big head board that has storage and I am pretty sure it takes up more room than my current bed.I do think those log beds are amazing and if you ever tried to buy one at the quality of a home made one you would most likely be looking at a huge price tag.My great grandfather was a carpenter and made some amazing furniture that I still have. I only wish I had more of the pieces he had made.Furniture is made like crap these days. You should see the set I have from my great grandfather. Every corner is dovetailed to perfection. The draws are deep and solid. The piece's the draws go in don't tip when the draws are pulled out. Even the runners are hand made and as solid as ever and the set is about 60-65 years old.Even the back is finished and real wood. Solid brass handles. He even cut the trim himself no pre-made molding. It's a shame people don't do this type of thing anymore. In general most trades that require hard work and talent are going away. Some day we won't have people that build furniture, or carve stone or any other trade that we should be sorry to loose.

Those old guys are dying out here at an alarming rate..we actually lost a man a few years ago that drove stakes in the ground and homesteaded this land..for real, He was almost 100 yrs. old. I made an effort to get to know him, and listened to his stories , and he taught me many skills about building and surviving here.
Many people have said to me ,after seeing my house, or my broad-axed barn, I was born in the wrong century.
I've found there is a broad appreciation now for the old skills, that used to be common.
