Marriage
I know some of you guys are married, but there's alot more of us that are not or used to be. If ya havent been, do you want to? And if you were, would you do it again? Personally, I dont think I would.
My ex applied for an annulment and actually got it. So, at least in the eyes of the church, I've never been married

I was married for over a decade, and for a time was very happy. After I came back from overseas, wounded inside and out, I was going through my own issues, and was ignoring her pain, and found I was with someone different. We decided to split apart, when we were moving her out ,I found evidence of drug use on her part, and was devistated.
The divorce was fairly amicable, but it took it's toll emotionally, on us, our families and friends....on the outside looking in, we appeared to be the perfect couple. I understand she's better now, and modeling again, and I am thankful for that.
I believe I would get married again , to the right girl, I did like it very much.
I felt it completed me.

Re: Marriage
i am happy i am divorced, but i can't even say i will NEVER do it again. i don't know about anyone else, but i can't predict the future. i've seen it time and time again. "i'm never getting married again!" and three months later it changes to, "dude, i've never been so in love before" and a week later..."i'm getting married, be my best man?" i don't know if it will ever happen, but i wont say never!

Re: Marriage
Well, Ma and I will have been married 30 years, this fall. Neither of us ever had been married before, so it was a 1st for us both. We have had our up's and down's, but it is always a work in progress. One thing that we have never done is, fight like little children. We have always been able to talk things out like adults. Our kids even asked us why we never fight like their friends do, so the cops have to show up. I guess if something were to happen and I find myself single again, not sure what I do.

I, for one, applaud you. I am not anti-marriage. Far from it. I'd much rather hear a story like yours than the ones without a happy ending. Congratulations.

Re: Marriage
I can't say I am against marriage for everyone. I just don't see a purpose for it anymore. In my case I see it as a legal thing or a religious thing. And these days there is no need to get married to get the things you used to marry for.I can't imagine ever getting married again. I don't need a court to verify my commitment, or my partners to me.I certainly couldn't care less what some Rabbi or Priest thinks. I don't need benefits and even if I did you don't need to marry for that anymore.I own my stuff and Kam owns his and if we are going to be together we kind of have it worked out that we keep things the way they are as far as who owns what. If we buy things together it is discussed and we work it out before a purchase. On big purchases I would do that whether we were married or not. I can appoint whomever I decide to be a benefactor of my things and and take care of any legal issues on paper to give each other rights to certain things like medical decisions. We also both have adult children who we consider in our decisions. Other than for religious reasons I don't see the point of marriage anymore for people. It certainly can't make me love Kam anymore than I already do.I never felt I needed someone to complete me. I feel complete whether or not I am in a relationship and I believe Kam feels the same way. He doesn't complete me but he is a great bonus to my life.
To Ma and Pa I salute you for being in a relationship for so long and keeping it together. It does take a lot of commitment to do that.I think the thing that you hit on that so many don't is that you view it as a constant work in progress. So many start a relationship off with fire works and then expect it to stay that way with no work. It's also not a 50%/50% its a 100%/100% commitment. And you have to like each other not just love each other as Free said. I know Kam makes me laugh and just feel so good being around him. I hope and believe he feels the same way about me.
To Kam: I was just thinking about how much I have come to enjoy blueberries lately.

It's funny...I have a few friends who I found out, are getting a divorce, not for lack of love in their relationship, but as a tax dodge. With the new tax code, it's cheaper for them to file separately than together. I wish them the best with that...

Especially, when your napping on the floor, because your back was hurting from working the driveway the other day, and she's got on a pair of spiked heels, and she's pissed at you because the garbage can is smelling up the kitchen, after she asked you to clean it up. Top that with discovery that her choice of tight white jeans wasn't her best choice, since that time-of-the-month hit her a day early leaving those tighty-whitey's with an ominously looking red stain in the crotch area, as her eyes spy you laying sprawled out on the living room floor, blissfully unaware of the carnage she can wreak upon you with said spiked heels...or so I heard.
