Rockin In The Free World
In my world, the following words / phrases will be eliminated and if said, will be totally ignored by me.
Like: It's ok to like something or to use it to compare one thing to another. However, to use it for every other word in a sentence, sometimes several times in a row can turn your question or statement into a string of unintelligible blather.
Awesome: As with the word "like" it has it's place as a descriptive word that indicates something far better than the the ordinary. However, everything is not "awesome" and it is far overused in modern language.
Fiscal Cliff: You cant indulge in any media source currently without being blasted the phrase. It implies certain, last minute financial doom, when in reality it means "We dont know how to use a check register, please help us".
Fair Share: Who's to decide what it fair? It's merely an opinion and opinions are like assholes. Everybody has one.
Compartmentalize: Probably made popular by a segment of the population who uses the word to make them seem more busy than they actually are and are incapable of sorting out their daily personal or professional affairs.
The Next Level: It's a pretty simple, self explanatory, descriptive phrase. However, with the absolute siege of Reality Shows in the past 12-15 years, it's become far too over used. On Black Friday, I saw one of those media - hypnotized shoppers on local TV being interviewed about her overall shopping experience and the bargains she got. The interviewee very giddily said that she was ready to "take it to the next level". Unless that meant going up the escalator at the mall, I thought it sounded robotic

O.K. !! Like......it would be awesome to stop talking about the impending Fiscal cliff, for just a little while. We've all had our fair share of assholes in control compartmentalizing our financial affairs. I'd like to see this economy taken to the next level by hypnotized shoppers, so we can all agree to disagree.....

Free, You and I disagree so often that if I didn't use "We will have to agree to disagree" often. That doesn't bother me because sometimes you get into debates with people you respect and enjoy but you can not agree on points. I feel that the statement to "agree to disagree" saves many from having arguments that would never end if the statement was not used.
I can't stand statements like "You complete me" No offense to those who use it, but I just want to be with a person that feels complete on their own.I remember when it was used in the Tom Cruise movie. EVERYONE was using it and it makes me cringe.

With the year coming to a close, we dodged another speculative object of great velocity. I was, taken back, akin astonishing! A great looming impartial divide, while we sat staring at the impending monetary overhang. We almost had to segregate ourselves if they took us to a histrionical succeeding plateau. Lucky for us, the crisis was averted...
