Hey, my last attempt to keep this one on topic
Marijuana being illegal makes the cartels and dealers thrive. If it was legal there wouldn't be a black market for it, their for putting many violent criminals out of jobs. Doesn't sound so bad to me!
The pothead - me - only one pushing the topic and keeping my focus hahaha

I don't think talking politics is a bad thing. As long as done respectfully. Which can be a hard thing to do. A lot of people are just uneducated about issues and their for have opinions on things from minimal information.
Which is why politics can be such a dangerous topic. My least favorite is when people discredit my ideas and beliefs because of my age. There is ignorance in all generations.

oops I read it too fast.
Just like those things that are like
"I have a dig bick"
"you that read wrong"
"That awkward when you read that wrong too"
"and said moment after awkward"
Our brain just makes a lot of assumptions quickly without actually looking at the word.

Absolutely, trust me...that has not gone unnoticed.
Hell, I'm for anything that will help rid us of the dangerous synthetic crap but legalization still brings it's own set of new problems.

Re: WEED
i'm not a weed smoker, never touched the stuff...but i think there'd be a lot less issues with it if it was legalized. less chances of someone getting a bad batch or laced with something else, because i'm sure it would be regulated, just like alcohol. besides that, think of the revenue it would create if it were regulated and taxed. look how much money the tobacco companies rake in on taxes, they keep increasing the tax, and people still shell out cash for them....

Re: WEED
Here is something a friend of mine posted on facebook the other day. It explains exactly how I feel about it and I could not have said it better myself.
"I like marijuana, people. I like to smoke it. It depletes my social anxiety, depression, insomnia, lack of appetite (yeah eating 1 meal a day isn't healthy), and I will not deny IT IMPROVES THE QUALITY OF MY FUCKING LIFE. It also relieves pain, quite a few illnesses, and has anti-cancer qualities to it. Tommy Chong, 99% cancer FREE, by ingesting cannabis oil and we all know he's been doing some tokin'. So what if I do not have the ambition to become a fucking doctor or a office slave, I would be content working a decent paying full-time job doing bullshit work.
People go on to say "Oh well yeah marijuana may be healthier than cigarettes, but SMOKING anything is bad for you!", well if it gets bad then USE A FUCKING VAPORIZER. Almost all the effects minus the carcinogens and second hand smoke. If that isn't good enough, then you can drink or eat it!
Nobody should go to jail for smoking a plant. Marijuana has killed no one, alcohol and tobacco kill thousands upon thousands a year. Prohibition does not work. All we're doing is turning non-violent citizens into violent criminals who later, when freed, become gangbangers other than the small percent who "turn their life around".
I am NOT saying it is for everyone; LIKE ANYTHING if you have a BAD reaction to it multiple times (multiple in case the reaction was caused by external factors) then do not do it! If it is making you lazy, miss work, and affecting your performance than do not do it. To those of us who want to use it responsibly, to help people like me not feel like a miserable cynical fuck all the time without the side affects of sexual dysfunction, possibly more suicidal thoughts, and being more susceptible to alcohol poisoning...then let me smoke my god damn marijuana! How often can you say you enjoy your medication?"

Re: WEED
It is, at this time in most states...illegal.
There are serious consequences. Doesn't matter if you think it should be legal, it is not.
I don't care what people choose to do in their own homes if it affects no one but them, but I don't like to hear them whine about getting busted for possession, having legal problems for driving under the influence (of anything) crying about having to give up pot in order to pass a drug test for employment, losing their job due to a random drug test or not being able to pass an employment background check because of some criminal record (misdemeanor or felony)
You can lobby, rally, and vote to legalize it but currently it is federally illegal. If it were legal, maybe I would use it responsibly and occasionally, but it's not legal and I don't care to screw up my life with the risks of the consequences of using an illegal substance.

Re: WEED
Some topics we can allow and we can monitor it and shut it down if any flaming begins, we've done this one several times before.
The "No Politics" rule is mainly for the election years when emotions are high and raw, and for topics like abortion, immigration laws.
But let me apologize, I didn't mean to sound harsh, meant to go for more of the "matter of fact" casual.

I do so hope this reference is not using the recent horrific senseless gut wrenching event to justify weed smoking.
If I'm wrong, I do apologize now. Sincerely I do. I truly hope I have read the wrong thing into it.
I love living in this country, especially since I have not been able to locate any Utopian land without flaws and problems, I'll stick with this one.

Aw, maybe you're not really cynical, but you do have very worthwhile opinions that we all love to hear, whether we agree or not.
If there were not opposing views to our own opinions, our own opinions would surely become very stale and stagnant.

It's not a justification I just think that laws need to have a closer look. Weed legal or not I don't think anyone should be allowed to have that sort of weapon.

Do you know, I think Voltaire would have been more pleased about people having the freedom to post on websites than anything he could possibly have imagined!

Re: WEED
Really? Cuz I get a picture in my head of an eyerolling Voltaire exclaiming "Bitches, pleeeease!"
We do have the freedom to post on websites, there are fringe sites and websites that are not moderated at all.
When I go to someone's house, and I start ranting, cussing or just expressing my views on religion or politics, it's their house...they can tell me to shut the fuck up or leave. They even have the right to legally have me removed.
Websites are like someone else's house.

IMO legalize. Would be much safer I'm sure, not to mention the revenue. I haven't smoked in a couple of decades but would much rather hang with one that does rather then an alcoholic.

Take your point Chazzy, but with the InterWeb there are so many houses, you can always find one that will allow you to speak up; and if not you can easily and cheaply build your own.
Of course, with such great power comes great responsibility, and I do think people need to be held to account for what they say. I'm delighted at the pending legal action over here about libel on Twitter...
