yea only dmg my house got was fixed with like 5 nails (few broken fence post). power went out for like a day

Glad you are ok Chunky. I know some people got hit hard where you are as well. My friend in Hoboken got slammed as well so I know this really hit us all over the state. The funny thing is Elizabeth has so many problems and so much construction I would think you would have had more problems and this time you got off easy. I am so happy to hear that. I bet you wont be coming down the shore this summer we don't have much to come down to unless you like seeing stacked up boards.Stay safe.

yea the shore got hooked pretty bad. i think sandy knew me and a friend were planing on maybe going to the beach. sandy sure is jealous. she just had to ask lol. but really have you seen the news with the video of the wrecked roller coaster. and my area also seems to get off easy. irene only under low bridges flooded and a few downed limbs.

Chunky I live in the same township as that wrecked roller coaster so yeah! The Mayor of the area where the roller coaster is has said he wanted to leave it in the water as a "tourist attraction" Then EVERYONE called him an idiot so he has since changed his mind and said it was a poor choice to think to do that.lol
What they are showing on the news is not even close to what it is really like. But they finally came and picked up some of the big trees and branches the other day and started picking up recycling this week.
They put up a notice telling people the town will not pick up the debris from the gutting of houses or contractor work. They said we need to hire contractors to cart that stuff away.GGGrrrr. But I guess they can only do so much.
Getting contractors, electricians roofers have proven to be challenging as well. Now they want us to get dumpsters too. LOL I bet there is not a dumpster to be had for hundreds of miles.They also just posted today about different types of permits depending on how much damage was done to our houses, And those who have lost their homes or have 50% of the value damaged they have to file something about a tax reassessment. This town was just in the middle of a major reassessment battle when this hit.It will be a long time until this area is somewhat back to normal. But I guess the good news is there wont be any crowds or jammed roads next summer. The bad news is there wont be any money either.
