Break It Down
This little ditty has been around forever.
Rock - a - bye Baby, on the tree top
When the wind blows, the cradle will rock
When the bough breaks, the cradle will fall
And down will come Baby, cradle and all
Now I ask ya, what kind of a melon head would put an infant in a cradle, climb to the top of a tree and hook the baby to a branch in the first pace? And then, when a storm comes in and snaps the branch, watches the baby come tumbling to the ground? And why dont they try to catch it? It's not a comforting lull-a-bye, it actually a bit disturbing!
This is why I say that more people should think like me.

A theory has it that the lyrics, like the tune "Lilliburlero" it is sung to, refer to events immediately preceding the Glorious Revolution. The baby is supposed to be the son of James VII and II, who was widely believed to be someone else's child smuggled into the birthing room in order to provide a Roman Catholic heir for James. The "wind" may be that Protestant "wind" or force "blowing" or coming from the Netherlands bringing James' nephew and son-in-law William of Orange, who would eventually depose King James II in the revolution (the same "Protestant Wind" that had saved England from the Spanish Armada a century earlier). The "cradle" is the royal House of Stuart.[4] The earliest recorded version of the words in print appeared with a footnote, "This may serve as a warning to the Proud and Ambitious, who climb so high that they generally fall at last",[5] which may be read as supporting a satirical meaning.
So on the day of US elections, was this your sneaky way to slip politics into our discussions here Free??? Maybe you should have your own universe!

Re: Break It Down
Another one came to mind
Three blind mice
Three blind mice
See how they run
See how they run
You'd better watch out for the Farmer's wife
She'll cut off your tail with a butcher's knife
Three blind mice
WTF??? First of all, how would they know if a mouse is blind and why would 3 of them hang in a pack? It's not like any of them could lead the others. And whats up with being afraid of the farmers wife? Why not the farmer? Was he up on a chair screaming? And who the hell would go after a mouse with a butcher knife with the only intent of cutting off their tails? Why not kill the little bastards? Or better yet, just get a cat. If theyre blind, the cat would have them dead in seconds. And to think they used to sing this to kids. Nowadays, somebody would call CPS on you for that! No wonder I'm mentally scarred!

Re: Break It Down
In the universal realm of "Sleaz-y-zia". One must sometimes look to sources of translation, to better understand the wise potentate. Luckily, "...the Shadow knows ...":
The origin of the 'tale' of Three blind mice!
The origin of the words to the Three blind mice rhyme are based in English history. The 'farmer's wife' refers to the daughter of King Henry VIII, Queen Mary I. Mary was a staunch Catholic and her violent persecution of Protestants led to the nickname of 'Bloody Mary'. The reference to 'farmer's wife' in Three blind mice refers to the massive estates which she, and her husband King Philip of Spain, possessed.
The 'three blind mice' were three noblemen who adhered to the Protestant faith who were convicted of plotting against the Queen - she did not have them dismembered and blinded as inferred in Three blind mice - but she did have them burnt at the stake!
"... And now you know the rest of Free's story"!

Re: Break It Down
I posted a while back about this type of thing. Free Stop steeling my ideas! Just kidding.
There are so many songs like this.Alouette is the one I posted about. When translated I was surprised to find it was not the happy little song I always thought it was. It's really kind of nasty . Its about all the things this person will do to this Lark when he gets it. Like plucking it's feathers, eyes, nose wings and tail. This is a French Canadian Childrens song. I'm shocked our children don't have more nightmares after finding that so many " children's songs" are so frightening when we really pay attention to them. No wonder so many people grow up to be insane.
