Public Service announcement. Stock up!
According to the media this morning... Beef, Pork and Poultry are at a great price right now because farmers had to sell off early due to high feed prices. They say to stock your freezers now.I have 3 problems with this. 1)My freezer doesn't hold very much.DAMN side by side. 2)I don't have the cash required to do this. Don't they know it's holiday season? 3)Someone forgot to tell the supermarkets that they were supposed to lower the prices, which is another reason I don't have enough money.Maybe Syb can call my local market and Costco for me and explain how it is supposed to work.

Re: Public Service announcement. Stock up!
Warned everybody 4 months ago this was going to happen......the farmers don't make nothing extra , it's the damn middle men, and processing plants, who have it the least amount of time, and assume the least risk.......why is everyone so interested in my meat ? It will drop by next year, trust me.

Re: Public Service announcement. Stock up!
I would kill to spend $250 a month I spend that easily in a week. At least I did when more of us lived at home. It has gone down a lot since its just myself and my daughter now (And the cat.) But its still really high.EVERYTHING adds to the prices but you know when its the store just keeping it high because they can due to things like lack of competition. That is the big issue around here.

I have a small pantry stocked, and treated supply of water, propane bottles for a portable cooking burner. If after the elections, things go bad, Im ready. If things go good, I have extra paid for stuff. The weather does def factor in though.

Re: Public Service announcement. Stock up!
I realize you live in a large urban centre, and don't know if this is feasable, but how far would it be to get directly to the farmer......I know that I have customers that will drive 5 hours to buy a side of beef from me. They say it's just slightly more money, than buying decent quality wieners. Consider going directly to the source, you may find it alot cheaper, but you may have to buy a large chest freezer.Having said that, I wouldn't have a clue what it's like to live where most of you do...if I get snowed in, all I need is a rifle, and some canned goods to feed myself, I also live in a natural deepfreeze, so storage isn't a problem.
