New TV Season
When I was a kid, I always looked forward to September for the new shows, but lately, network TV execs seem to have their heads up their asses.

I will check out Nashville, but based on the theme of the show, I'm not sure how long the writers can keep it interesting. I'm looking forward to a new Season of The Voice. Missed the first season, but fell in love with the show last year. And that's about it for network TV for me.

On the cable side, Dallas was excellent and Charlie Sheen's Anger Management was a real surprise. After his melt downs, Charlie proved that he's got what it takes to make a hit show.

And with it's new judges, I will NOT be watching Idol.

Charlie is alright, I think he had one real meltdown, with the bad and constant publicity from that, he wisely owned it and made it work for him.

Re: New TV Season
TV is a business. Unfortunately the executives at the broadcast networks have all been penny wise dollar foolish for years. The cable networks have really stepped it up since they have found the public was starving for good programming. The stupid part is that the cable networks are owned by the same companies as broadcast. However cable had lower overhead when they started making origination programming. USA network was one of the first non-premium cable networks years ago to try original scripted programming and it worked out great for them.Of course HBO hit the street running with original programming on premium networks and then Showtime followed quickly. What they found was as soon as the original programming season would end their subscriber base dropped through the floor. So someone with a brain at HBO said "Hey, we should do original programming all year so we keep our sub count up on a continuous bases." The more successful they got the more money they spent on programming and started to get star power as well. Also new to TV. Movie, TV and Broadway actors never used to cross over. At some point it was considered the kiss of death for movie stars to go to TV. These days it is common place for actors to cross genres. They also do more projects for "THE LOVE" rather than money. At least that's what they claim.lol And that ladies and gentlemen is how original programming started on cable and made HBO and Showtime two of the most successful networks out there today. However the broadcast networks still have not gotten the memo on all this stuff.

Free, September is no longer the NEW SHOW MONTH for the most part. It is based on sweeps, and award voting mostly. The reason so many did and still try to start AROUND September is because they build momentum and interest for November sweeps. They also fall into that years awards and are fresh in the mind of the public and judges for voting.Where as a show that started earlier in the year might have been forgotten already. You usually see the best shows during Sweep periods.Sometimes you will see a show pulled suddenly as well.

Re: New TV Season
I'm so out of touch with actual TV programming,I have a hard time dealing with all the reality stuff and even tho this thread is not about reality TV i have discovered. If i watch the reality TV stuff, The reality for me is, I'm wasting my life watching someone else live theirs. Not gouging on those that like reality TV,its just how it is of me. If I'm in front of my TV,it would likely be programming from decades ago like,Andy Griffith, the Old star trek ,Stargate series or something else from a lost era.All the new stuff I wouldn't have a clue.Heck I have to use a DVR just to see things nowadays If its not Science,Cosmology or History its probably not on my DVR well maybe Gun stuff too. I loves the guns......

Re: New TV Season

I know of two shows coming on in October. It is the last season for the Jersey Shore, and Sons of Anarchy, which airs this Tues. 9/11, at 9pm. However, I dont DVR and I can't ever remember shows or time? So, I end up clicking on regular stations and watching reruns of whatever, like last week was Everybody Loves Raymond.

Other reruns I've found on ISP, and MeTV, which air Andy Griffith, I Love Lucy, Lucy and Desi Hour, That Girl, Odd Couple, Bob Newhart, Love American Style, F Troop, Sea Hunt, Make Room for Daddy, Family Affair, Mr. Ed, Gumby, Mr. Magoo, the Patty Duke show, Big Valley, Wild Wild West, Star Trek, Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea, and Lost in Space.

Re: New TV Season
Just found out last night that The Hub has resurrected Lois and Clark. This was from when I first fell in lust with Teri Hatcher. It was after her boobs were the subject of a Seinfeld episode and before she was a Desperate Housewife .

Ahh.. Free, I knew you to be a man of good taste; and I was right. I think I fell in lust with Teri, when she played Stallone's sister in Tango and Cash; and was the cute but ditsy Penny on several episodes of Richard Dean Anderson's MacGyver. So she was definitely the draw to my watching Lois and Clark.

RIGHT! I forgot about Tango and Cash! And if I remember correctly, we actually go to few her ample assets in that movie!

Re: New TV Season
I find it disconcerting that, a season last 14 to 16 episodes. That's a four-no-repeat-week in the eight week season. Unless they're using Obama-math, that doesn't work right...

First choices are History, Discovery channels. then other stuff. Networks should just be gone. All garbage------

Family Guy is on in constant re-runs. Simpsons and King of the Hill have all gotten to be the same week to week.

I TOTALLY agree. The Networks are basically a joke any more. Also, I thought that Reality Shows were a passing fad. I was wrong.

Re: New TV Season
There are a few nice choices on the Travel channel.
Mysterious At The Museum is a favorite, several segments each episode on on history I've never heard of, or never heard much about. Awesome
Off Limits...all about the non-tourist areas of cities. They did the Eads bridge in St. Louis, very informative nd entertaining.
