You mean split rail fences? They're rustic chic and fine if you're not trying to keep livestock in. Mostly a decorative thing I think.
There's different types of split rail but the type I've seen around my area are just split lengths of logs staggered and laid end over end in kind of a log cabin style.
I think they use locust or cedar. A lot of cedar fence posts, it's insect resistant, weathers good, and since the stuff grows like crazy and no good for the wood stoves, it gets used quite a bit for fences,

There are people there who water their livestock in their bathtubs,.....They just cut a hole in the side of the house and fill the tub....But I will say, once they accept you, and that may take awhile, I have never felt so welcome...I was like part of the family once they got used to the accent of mine....They kept asking me "Were you from ?"..and I'd say "Canada !"..Theyd' say "KAYNADA!! Shit ! do you know Bill ?...He's in Q-beck "..I'd say "YAH!! He's dead ".....Loved Missouri..

We don't have cedar here till you get down to sea level around Vanouver,..they have lots...There is a small central interior mountain of it around Lillooet...And for all you non B.C. people,..thats pronounced Lil-lo-wet..We use almost entirely lodgepole pine thats been pressure treated ,cut into post and rails, and left round...we have thousands of square miles of that stuff..Thats funny I don't remember seeing Cedar while I was in Missouri.

I don't know...But its probably a safe bet her Mother is giving lap dances at 40 bucks a shot..It seems when you make your living sliding down a brass pole , it should be against the law to name a pet,..never mind a child that will have to put up with the shool yard abuse. A few months ago I filled some commercial Vodka bottles with moonshine...and being the person I seem to be..I forgot that I had done that. A half hour ago I poured myself a drink thinking it was Smirnoff 40% vodka..so I poured 4 ounces into a very tall heavy glass and downed half of it...I think I made a huge mistake..Why is it taking so long to type this ?...and why are the mountains outside my window moving ?

Soooo,....Yesterday my young niece dropped in here with her new boyfriend...and...He's a Cowboy, that works for a guide Outfitter North of Whistler , who hunts Elk and Moose..Right away he wanted to buy some horses from me, while his hand was on my nieces ass..When she said "Don't do that in front of my Uncle"..He just looked at me and smiled...You ever hated someones actions, but liked them at the same time ?

I'm putting in about a mile of fence line above my place at about an elevation of 3900 feet , and I guess my metal fence pounder striking the top of the fence posts for the last week sounded like a bell...Last night when I came down from the mountain there was 3 cowboys and their girlfriends standing beside my outdoor firepit..They heard me working up there, and couldn't believe one man would atempt to fence such a steep mountainside alone..I wonder how they will adapt today with a hangover and a ringing hand pounder...I suppose I don't have to always try the impossible alone...I am very grateful today, and I'm a wealthy man in the friend department.

It is supposed to hit 80 degrees today for the first time this year. Yeah!!! They also said it will be muggy and then later in the day, raining. But Sunday is supposed to be perfect!This is big weekend for us my daughters birthday and Mothers day.Love these kind of weekends.

I was helping a friend brand his calves, and was riding one of his horses, when the rope with a large calf on the end of it, went under it's tail....
I ended up testing the strength of his log rails in his sorting pen with the top of my head.
Man do those head wounds ever bleed...I was laughing so hard when I got up out of the dust ,he was certain I must have brain damage, or maybe it was when I asked "What do you think of my cowboying so far ?"
