QUOTE (funlovingpair @ August 27, 2013, 21:27)Seen the surgeon today. Found out it is recurrent carpal tunnel syndrome. doc said work is substantial contributing cause. I can go back to work with restrictions. No repetitive forceful gripping or pinching activities. They gave me a shot in the wrist, (Hurt like hell, now swollen and sore). paper work and off to work I go.
So went back to work, gave them the paper work from doc. filled out paperwork for work comp and they sent me home.
called me and said I can come back to work in the morning but they need to call doctor to get clarification on restrictions. there is no stop date for them and they are not very clear.

Re: Randomness.
This was kind of nervously funny...I've been getting a lot of adverts on my fb page lately, more so than friends posting there. One of them was for a free background check on anyone just by their name and city/state. I decided to look up myself, typing in all the info in the appropriate boxes. Just before that proverbial page, I knew would be coming, that asks for my credit card info, I got a message that made me chuckle nervously, "Don't worry, your search history will remain PRIVATE, and WILLIAM will NEVER know about it!"

Is there such a thing as boner etiquette when you go to a nude beach.....?
I've always wondered about that....I mean would a chick be insulted or complimented when you took a look , and well.....waved hello with your cowboy buckle stick.
Yes.. I'd still wear my hat, boots, and buckle to a nude beach....

Excellent point. I've always thought that I probably wouldn't go to a Clothing Optional place for precisely that reason. It'd would be difficult to stay "non chalant".

I now have a different brace for my hand for during the day and my big brace to wear at night. good news it has not gone to sleep since the shot. but still have some problems. bad news the left hand is starting to act up and going to sleep. thinking the same thing in the left hand as the right
I just want to have full use of my hands again.

Nope no problems there. I do have recurrent CTS, it is not as bad and the doc is hoping we can settle things down, but also said I might not be able to continue with the job I am doing.

I had a similar problem ...due to years of training on a punching bag. It was nerve inflamation in my lower neck, that would manifest itself by making my hands go numb.

Re: Randomness.
CTS Sucks I have that and nerve damage from my neck that effects both my arms as well so I feel your pain. (Literally)
I have two different types of braces because the one hand has other issues so that brace has a thumb splint as well. I have braces for so many parts of my body that I look like a car wreck victim when I wear them all. Oh wait I was! I hate wearing them but the surgery really wouldn't help my issues much because they are multiple. But you might want to ask about a TENS/NEMS unit.(You want the combo unit) It helps a lot when things are really bad and it might help you avoid surgery.

Re: Randomness.
I have been listening to my daughter sound like she is coughing up a lung and she has a high fever as well. I can't remember the last time she ran a fever. I know she is an young adult but I swear no matter how old they get it breaks my heart to know they are sick and I can't do anything to make her feel better. I guess the saying about your children always being your children is true.I want to sleep in her room like when she was a baby and put cool cloths on her head. I only wish a kiss would make her all better like they believed when they were little. My sons are a bit older than she is and I still worry when they get sick as well and they don't even live at home. How do people turn off that part in their mind that makes them worry about this stuff?

Re: Randomness.
I'm guessing there is no off switch, when I had my surgery this summer my mother was so worried about hubs being able to care of me and himself, she was prepared with a packed suitcase to move in for a bit, even though she knows we have no quest room, she would have to sleep in a recliner and she really, really doesn't like cats and is allergic to them she was willing to come stay even though we have a house full of them.
We didn't allow that, she would have been suffering more than I post op but she sure was ready and willing to make whatever sacrifices may be needed, my mom, such a good woman.

Re: Randomness.
Being a Mom is a lifetime job and I wouldn't trade it for anything. I had to smile a little last night. My daughter couldn't sleep and came into my room and cuddled up to me and said "Can you please just make me feel better like when I was a little kid." I guess most mom's wish they had the magic potion for that.
The good news is although she still has a slight fever and coughing she is sounding better than she did and the fever was gone most of the day. I think the mistake was she went to work. She will still go to school and work because she is stubborn and she missed one day of classes and doesn't want to fall behind when she just started collage.Hopefully she will get better quickly. Now I am trying to decide weather to get my flu shot tomorrow or wait? I always get a bit sick from it and I wouldn't be surprised if I get what she has by next week. So Is it better to wait till it passes? GGGRRRR

Bought a dress awhile back. I never buy dresses but it was a cute little sundress type of thing. I thought it would be the perfect for this weather this summer. Bright eye catching colors on a dark background.
I wore it for about an hour the first time. Passed by a mirror and saw a flash of metal, you know, about chest high, from the corner of my eye.
Turns out the dark background is see-through. Go figure.

Re: Randomness.
Back from the doctor I now have CTS in both hands again. This time got the shot in my left hand. The nurse is better then the doctor for shots. did not hurt this much when the nurse did it in my right hand. I now have a brace on both hands and will do hand Therapy twice a week for 7 weeks and see the doctor again.
I was told if I would have stayed in the office I would not be going through this, but with the type of work I was doing it did my hands in. will see if they let me stay with what I am doing now or not.

It's up to the doctor.

I have restrictions from the doctor and I was put doing something else. the doctor is not planning to lift them any time soon. it is up to work if they will let me stay in that spot.

I heard from work today, good news is I can stay with what I am doing for a couple more weeks. Then not sure.
