Re: Randomness.
So I was at this bar a few days ago. Watching and enjoying. the band that was playing. They finished up and I went up to the lead singer, who I kinda know, and told him what a great job I thought they did. A little while later, he came up to the bar and we were talking more and then the bass player came over and joined in on the conversation. He was right in the middle of saying something and he stops right in the middle of a sentence and says to me "Man, you look like Paul McCartney". I just laughed and said, "Thanks. You think I look like a 72 year old man!". Well, he didnt know what the hell to say after that and I wasnt sure if I'd just been complimented or insulted. Worst part is, that's not the first time this has happened

When people are on film , we tend to remember them at younger ages, through old movies or clips of one kind or another....
Think of Redford, or Eastwood...do you think of them as young, or a 70 something year old guys ?
I think thats a nice compliment.

One of my new years resolutions was to save my spare change. Every time I break a dollar, I deposit the change in a cup by the front door when I return for the night. I just counted it, and rolled it up. I now have, "$115.50" worth of rolled coinage.

I know my bank use to do this. For every time I used by debit card, they rounded up to the next dollar and added it to my savings account.

Re: Randomness.
I used to save my change and you will be shocked how much it can add up to. When I was a bartender I used to not turn in any silver then put that in a long neck wine bottle. I waited until the bottle was filled and the first one paid for a trip. The first I think was Bermuda.I went on several weekend trips that way and I also bought myself some nice expensive things, a designer pair of boots, a designer coat and a expensive watch, just to name a few. When I bought the coat it was on sale and the bank was closed so I paid for it in all coins. The clerk didn't want to take it but I stood my ground and told her she had to because it was legal tender. The manager had to count out several hundred dollars in mostly quarters. I had them rolled so she checked a bunch then just spot checked the rest, lol. I still have that coat and LOVE it!

Re: Randomness.
Crazieest thing just happened. I am sitting on the couch, and the front door flies open. The big dog gets out. I am able to catch her, even though I am walking barefoot on rocks. I go to open the door to get back in, and it is LOCKED!!!
I walk to the neighbors, and someone is sitting outside, and is nice enough to crawl through the window, and let up back in.
Now, what if this were to happen at night, or while I'm soaking in the tub? Two dogs escape, and I'm totally naked? Or, if I'm asleep, and they are long gone by morning?
CRAZY!!!

Re: Randomness.
The owner of the store told me today to come see him after work...mysterious. "With everything going on and the lack of stuff being sold at the store, it's with deep regret that I have to let you go." he said with a smile. "When is my last day?" I asked. "Today was it." he said smiling again. "It's been a pleasure working with you, and you've been an exemplary worker, but your services are no longer required." he said smiling. Must be one of his lousy ways of defusing situations, his smiling at serious situations. He gave me a handshake and walked off... Now I got to find another job...I find it kind of funny in a way. If I got to give him at least two weeks notice after finding another job, why can he lay me off at a moments notice?...

Re: Randomness.
So sorry GG. I know it doesn't seem fair but there is a reason they are allowed to let you go without notice. When people are losing their job they tend to do damage many times to the business. They steal, or steal clients, or bad mouth them while they have access to the files etc. Many places let you go and then give you a few minutes with security to take you personal stuff but nothing else. You don't really HAVE to give notice when you leave a job unless you have a contract that says so. I had such a contract. It many times depends on the nature of your job. But if you want a good reference it is considered the proper thing to do.I would ask your now ex-employer for a letter of reference to take with you. It's always good to have those with you when applying for another job. You never know what can happen in the future and you might not be able to get one at that point.Good luck in your job hunting.

Re: Randomness.
The question was kind of rhetorical, but what really got me was his candour. "I was going to tell you a couple of days ago, but I got busy and forgot." Who tells you that?! He forgot to tell me something that important?! Apparently I'm not that important. My own dumb fault, since I didn't follow my own two rules. Number one; Never work for a company that scrimps on the purchase of toilet paper. There's no money in companies that can't cover your ass. Number two; Never stay in company that doesn't listen to its employees...ever. He said the store wasn't making any money and he couldn't figure out why. I told him, it was because we were so off the beaten path that nobody could find us. He said, "Yeah, but the lease is so cheap there!" My reply, "Well to quote a bad pun, 'You get what you paid for..." He just stared at me blankly...

Re: Randomness.
my last place of employment was like that. if you put your notice in, whether it be 30 days, two weeks, or that day, you were off the schedule immediately, and then the boss would freak because we were short handed. a few time, i got penciled in to replace someone, but no one ok'd it with me, or even told me until the last moment. i'd get a phone call, "where are you? you were supposed to be here 5 minutes ago!" but just yesterday, i wasn't even on tonight's schedule. "oh,well, you're on it now! drop whatever you're doing, and get here ASAP, or face the consequences".
once i refused, because i was on my way out to a movie with my then wife..and for the next month, i was only scheduled two shifts a week.
i hated it, but didn't argue, or i'd have gotten canned. i'm very happy to not work there anymore!

Hey GG I have a feeling your bass was afraid to be honest when he fired you .You don't FORGET something like that. Either way it can't be good and I hope you can at least get unemployment until you find something. Maybe you will find something better. I do think you should get that letter of reference. They tend to do well rather than waiting for someone to call your old boss when you never know what they will say, especially if he is having a bad day when he gets that call.

OMFG I didn't realize that my friend from childhood had been studying and become one of the top people in regard to Chronic pain and how to treat it based on his Neuroscience blah blah....So I didn't want to impose and ask him to much since we had not spoken in a while and felt funny about saying "Hi so hows the family? Now can you help me?" So I knew he wrote a couple books. I figured let me read them and see if they will help. Okay, I thought it was a good Idea until two things happened. One...The prices were $155.58 and $110.79. Really! Two....These book are so above what my brain can handle and I don't have time to get a degree to understand them.So maybe I will just talk to him invite him to dinner and ask him anyway.I hate asking for flavors but sometimes you just have to say that's the only way.

Re: Randomness.
If you want to see something just amazing check out Mark Koos on that posting you site. This guy plays duelling banjos on a double neck guitar like I've never seen.
Oh and that guy that does all those crazy dives off of mountains in what I think they call a flying suit with the go camera is a friend of a friend and he is on TV so I am watching him talk about how many times he almost died. Last I heard he was thought to be dead. I guess not! Now he is doing underwater stuff too. I guess you can't fall and hit rocks that way but somehow he seems to still find ways to try to break his body. Why do people do that kind of stuff wen the rest of us try to avoid it?
Yes this is the stupid stuff I do when I can't sleep and it's 5:15 am. So I listen to lectures on neuroscience and check out cool guitar players and crazy people. At least I'm broadening my horizons.lol
