Anti Hero
Ok. I was watching AMC's Hell on Wheels and was hit with a question. What makes a tortured, unrepentant, and unredeemed anti-hero so cool and compelling?

Whats it like on planet Perve anyways ? Plenty of anti-heroes, with no clothing, and that brings me to another question....if you don't wear clothing why , on your pic. are you tanned like a certain farmer, or rancher I know , from only the neck up? From the neck down you kinda look.....well ....like a Canadian in spring....no insult intended..

Good question my Canadian brother. Long story behind the time when my butt was the same color of my face, no tan lines. Basically, shit happens. What can I say? A few years ago, my way too long hair was way too long, and I was nut brown. Like an Arizona surfer boy. But after 39 years......wait.....just had to check which reallity I am in now, ya, Im 39, moved, and am inside way too much. And dammit, these days I have to actually put clothes (ick )on to go outside. But I am thinking of starting a new country where all that crazy crap is set straght.

I think society has gotten tired of the hero that does the right thing just because it is the right thing. That story has been told over and over and over, making it tired and dull. It's also not all that realistic, as those stories almost always end with the hero getting everything, and someone that's doing the right thing usually doesn't get the girl, or the good job, or the happily ever after simply because there's enough people out there that like to take advantage of people like that.
However, the anti-hero that's doing the right thing because he knows he's going to be rewarded in the end is a bit more realistic, and is a person that a greater number of people can relate to, especially when times are tough. It also give the anti-hero a more compelling reason for why he is doing what he is doing.

It's easy for me to answer this. We women like bad guys. At least we do in our heads. The problem is when the fantasy and the reality don't fit it;s kind of fucked up because we usually wind up with the bad guy who turns out to be a total asshole , maybe an abuser or lazy ass that wont get a real job etc... Fantasy is always better than reality. You know the saying " Be careful what you ask for, you might just get it ." It had to come from some woman that said she liked bad boys.But it looks good in the movies and books.
