Working with wood
So when you work with wood, do you like a nice tight fit? Say your working with finely sculpted table legs that are attached to the main frame, with unbelievable end grain, do you use your doweling, or just use a long screw , Ive found that spit works well when sliding a dovetail joint together, but once the initial friction has been overcome, a very good fit is achieved, and the desired joint should never blow.......and a safety tip for beginning wood workers.....When working with exotic virgin growth lumber, don't try to force too large of doweling into too small of a hole, forcing it in to quickly could result in splitting the workpiece, and the virgin stock is very hard to find at the best of times. Remember the right tool for the right job.

Re: Working with wood
I made a breadbox and a nice coffee table, back in high achool. Somehow the instructor failed to share the finer points you describe. The bread went bad, and legs on the table wobbled. Dammit, NOW I learn how its REALLY done.

Re: Working with wood
Yes wobbly legs are a real problem after the project is over,I've had this happen many times, or if your main frame is older it becomes weak , and can't take the abuse. You can remedy this problem by either going to a younger model of mainframe, or rapidly sanding down your doweling , and fitting it to the appropriate hole. But always remember to test fit......we don't want any premature accidents.

Re: Working with wood
When the delivery truck gets there in about four days , just syphon it out of the gas tank, and if you need any paint stripper just spray it on the side of your house, it'll peel that paint off perfectly. Just remember no smoking, unless you want a simultanious shave , dark tan, manscape, and haircut

Some of that virgin timber can leave a nasty mark if you get in a hurry.
