Opening ceremony/ Olympic games
Really like the opening ceremony, they're always so grand.
The industrial revolution and the James Bond segments were pretty fantastic.
Such a fuss about the US uniforms, aside from being made in China, it seems not many cared for the Ralph Lauren design with the berets but after watching the parade of nations...the uniforms didn't seem that bad

I don't really remember prior Olympic openings, were they all this long? I do think the opening was spectacular and really want to see it again.

I do hope 5tar, that ya all are getting a chunk of your investment back in generated revenue during the course of it all.

Well individual traders aren't. There have been a number of prosecutions for "illegal" use of the 5 olympic rings to advertise goods!

Yeah, I would expect that, unliscened use of copyrighted stuff related to big events like superbowl, world series, etc...is heavily monitored here.

Re: Opening ceremony/ Olympic games
It's not heavily enforced as it could or should be here either. And even those who use the Olympics legally, over do it. It just gets to a point where ever commercial , every print ad, ever radio tag has the ever so familiar "Official sponsor of the 2012 summer Olympics". I get tired of hearing it because it means nothing after a while. Especially when I see things like McDonald's sponsors the gymnastics. I laugh. Trust me.I used to compete in gymnastics at a much lower level and even I didn't eat McDonald's!If a coach even saw you had a soda they would have a heart attache. Those kids are not eating a big mac anytime soon.
I do enjoy the Olympics. I just hate the politics and the commercial part of it. I wish I could just watch the events and not hear all the bullshit. I tend to tune out as much of that as I can. I am sorry I missed the opening. I hear it was really nice.
As for the people of London. Good luck with the crowds and all the craziness. I know when they tried to bid to get it in NY. Almost everyone that lives here said "Are you out of your minds! We don't want the Olympics here!" Just having the president come to town puts the damn city on lock down. I can't imagine the nightmare of the Olympics.NY just doesn't have the proper infrastructure and it would be a logistical nightmare!I hope it's better there for you guys. Enjoy them and hopefully it will all go well and the athletes get to enjoy the Olympics to the fullest as it was meant to be.
I saw the heartbreak on the Gymnasts face today that got robed of making the all around finals. It kills me to see stuff like that.

Well individual traders aren't. There have been a number of prosecutions for "illegal" use of the 5 olympic rings to advertise goods! That happened here as well in the Vancouver/Whistler olympics, they called them the Olympic police....but if you don't crack down on them I suppose the trademark becomes worthless, and events like these do need sponsorship for funding. As far as us paying for it all...Ya right, the taxpayer will be on the hook for decades.Hosting the winter Olympics in the middle of a world wide reccession was a challenge, and they pulled it off, but the revenues, and long term tourism fell short.

Fantastic job on the opening ceremony anyway. It was a spectacular site on TV...can't even imagine how breath taking it was in person.
