Yet another post that made me think of Free. Did you hear of this major sin in London?
So Bruce Springsteen has Paul Mccartney come on stage to jam and what happens? They pull the plug on their mics for going over on the noise curfew in London. It almost started a riot!
So the news people were interviewing people all over and interviewed some BRITISH young reporter that was there. He said AND I QUOTE "They were amazing...It had to be the best concert in history. Nobody knew what was going on...Paul MCCARTHY was great....Then their mics went dead." I just sat there saying "Did my ears just fuck up or did he just say MCCARTHY?" I think there should be a required class in all school about music icons.I still remember the time my cousin asked me the following question. "Is it true that Paul Mccartney was in a band before wings?" He is 11 years younger than I am. What is this world coming to?

that's ok, about 10 years ago, i was working at a fast food place. the two assistant managers knew of the Beatles as some band from overseas, claimed to even know any of their music, til' i pointed out that the song "Revolution" from that Nike commercial, and that when "Ferris Bueller" sang "Twist & Shout" it he was lip syncing to the Beatles.
even worse, they had NO CLUE who the Rolling Stones were. they had never even heard of them.
both of these kids were in their mid 20's at the time.

I had this occur the other night. I named all the concerts I've been to, and the nineteen year old recognized Lynyrd Skynyrd, and Aerosmith. I mentioned Molly Hatchet, and he said, "Who is she?"
HUH??!!

I almost posted about Cheetos as well.lol I watched food network the other night. They did a thing about how Cheetos were made and how many they make in one hour. the numbers were amazing! Did you know that the Cheetos Cheetah aka Chester Cheetah is cousin to the Pink Panther? "it ain't easy bein' cheesy" He was first animated by the same guy who drew the Pink Panther. However Chester was not the first Mascot for Cheetos. There was a mouse before him. It just wasn't as cool as Chester.
OK Back to the topic at hand. Why kids don't know the basics of life in general. They should know the true icons of music as well as many other things in life. It would be like telling me a kid doesn't know who Steve Jobs or Bill Gates is. That's just wrong! Yes they should even know Chester Cheetah and Mickey Mouse and the Pink Panther. Or that Disney was a person that had a mind of a genius, not just a brand name. What has come of this crazy world.Make your kids and grand-kids read!Make them watch anything but shows like Jersey Shore and the Real Housewives of anything.

As far as the concert plug being pulled, that was a bit much. And forget about Springsteen for a second, but pulling the plug on SIR Paul, MBE? I dont know about British Royalty protocol, but I would think that he would deserve more respect than that, just by virtue of his title.
And the McCarthy thing? That just makes me shake my head. While I cant substantiate this, I would have to believe that he's got to be the most publicized entertainers in history, if for no other reason, because of his longevity. Concerts, videos, talk shows, collaborations, albums, awards, documentaries etc. Hell, look at how much press his divorce got!
