Sorry in advance to Free. This might just make him have a heart attack
I am not feeling well and fell asleep. When I woke up there was an infomercial on for "We love the nightlife" music collection. Now I have to say my first love is classic rock when it comes to music but, I really like almost all types of music ( not rap because I don't feel it's music).
That being said I have to admit I do like most of the music from the 70's including DISCO. While listening to the infomercial I realized I had a lot of fun going to discos and dancing until my feet would bleed. I'm not exaggerating either. The dancing was only part of it.We planes everything. We knew if you were going to Studio 44 don't wear blues ore chances are you won't get in. If we went with your regular partner, chances are you practiced all week.We even riged our clothes so we could do things like spin out of your skirt. It really was a big production. We knew where all the best DJ's as well. And listening to the music reminded me I actualy enjoyed the music as well. For the record that drove my rock music loving brother insane.lol Sorry Free ....take a deep breath. It will be ok.

Re: Sorry in advance to Free. This might just make him have a heart attack
Let me check. Nope, I am not Free. Although Tucson has a very diverse population (lots of Mexicens, look at a map, go figure), and people that my life has entwined with, go white to black, and everything in between, I do nit care for most Mexican music. Rap, I mean good rap, usually mixed with another(s) singing in the background, I really appreciate it. Never performed it myself in the last band I was in years ago, 'The Imperials of Soul' (gee, guess what the 3 other members looked like?), it was pre rap. I dont know if I would have been talented enough to even perform rap. Hell, took me a while to even become accustomed to alternatae rhythm style, very tricky at times. Anyway, my hat is off to my 'brothers', who perform great rap, thats talent.

Well Perve, I'm very impressed. Most, especially those over 30, hear or have heard a little rap early on, and have discarded the whole genre.
I like it to, there's so many different styles. It took me a little time but I've grown to appreciate it.

Re: Sorry in advance to Free. This might just make him have a heart attack
Thx Chazzy. Ya, rap is done by mostly blacks, and the rythym and timing they can hook up , is awesome. Example: the remake of 'Lean on me'. Dont remember the group, but it was just drop dead hot. So good, it was stupid excellent. Doubt if this old rock and roller could hang with it.

Re: Sorry in advance to Free. This might just make him have a heart attack
I didn't say that rap was bad per say.I said it is not " music" in my opinion.I feel it is poetry put to a beat but it is not someone " singing notes" therefore I don't feel it qualifies as music in my opinion. I admit I'm not a fan of it but that doesn't mean some is not good or that I don't appreciate the talent( in some cases) to perform it. There is some that I have heard that isn't bad.My son has more underground rap that is actually better than what I've heard on the radio.
There is art work that I don't care for and I don't say that it makes the artist less talented, just that it's not my taste.I'm sure there are many of you who don't care for classical or opera but still understand and appreciate the talent that goes into it.
Now back to the important thing here.....Has anyone checked on Free to see if he is still breathing? It"s OK Free I still have the Beatles Number One album on CD. My first love is still classic rock so it will all be OK.Someone please wave Paul McCartney's music catalog under his nose to revive him.

Re: Sorry in advance to Free. This might just make him have a heart attack
Gregorian chant had it's time on the charts, not exactly note singing either.
It's something that has spiritual beauty, history and meaning, but I'll probably never pop in a CD and listen to it in it's entirety. Remember the whale song recordings? Sure, buy one to contribute to the preservation of the whales but another example of something that for me, is better just sampled.
While Free is passed out, someone bring me a variety of colored sharpies. Gonna put a permanent Dee Schneider face on him.

Re: Sorry in advance to Free. This might just make him have a heart attack
I supply the markers and I'll add a camera . Please take pictures. Lol I lived on Staten Island and Dee Schnieder was pretty big there. Everytime someone would say how much they loved Twisted Sister I would just laugh and think 'please, if there is a God let Staten Island have someone and something better to be remembered for, because Twisted Sister and the city garbage dump is really not all Staten Island has!'At least Milisa Milano helped the image a little bit and showed that not all people from Staten Island wore makeup like Dee Schnieder.

I was at a party on Saturday and there were some pretty cool tunes coming out of my buddy's radio....until I heard "I love the night life, I love to boogie" AAAAHHHHH!!!!!!! I had my buddy's 2 year old grandson chanting "NO MORE DISCO!" at the radio with me. We were cheered!

Sorry to inform you of this but, Orange is really hot in home decor this year, and bell bottoms are back in style as for green porno lighting, I think as long as the women are naked no one cares what color the lighting is.lol

I stand corrected...I think i need to visit a city more often to keep up on the latest trends, but this cowboy just can't do bell bottoms, I've seen to many reruns of Welcome Back Kotter, and Horshack in bellbottoms is just so wrong.

Re: Sorry in advance to Free. This might just make him have a heart attack
In all fairness I can say I have heard a few (Very few) good rap songs. I still don't consider them songs or music (with a few exceptions like "walk this way" but that is what they call them.I couldn't tell you who did them but my kids have played a few that were not too bad. However, they should not be in the music world. I think they are poetry not music. No other form of poetry is is considered music, I don't know why they put Rap in there.
Disco might not be your taste but you have to admit there were some talented people in that genre. Donna Summer, The Bee Gees, Cool and the gang etc. It's like opera, you might not care for it but there are some talented people singing it and you should acknowledged their talent.Free hold on to your seat here....There are some people that don't like the Beatles but that doesn't make them any less talented.

PERVE: I do think that is a country song title. Sybian is right. I would check the country listings.
SIDE NOTE TO PERVE. Are u the guy in Az that was arrested for running through the streets naked? Its been all of the news there. My mom said she thought the guy was from Tucson. I just started laughing when she said that.
As for my last comment to Free...I really am.not trying yo send him to the hospital. Maybe I should recommend he be medicated in some form prior to reading statements like that.I will keep that in mind for the future.

I think maybe that some music belongs to a generation. Every new generation wants something new that can call their own and it isn't important that any other generation likes it or gets it.
