Re: heat
We are in the middle of yet another heat wave. As I said we are barely out of one when another starts. Now they are saying it will break for a day or maybe two but then another is coming . But whats more concerning are these crazy storms. They are so severe and dangerous its like something out of a movie. One is rolling in as we speak. It's cool as hell to watch but the damage and injuries and even deaths they are causing are unbelievable. It feels like my house is shaking the thunder and lightening is so bad. My poor kitten is freaked out. I feel bad than I can't calm him down.
So many people with no electricity and it was 100 degrees plus in most areas around here today. This has to be the craziest weather pattern I have seen in my lifetime. The only thing that seems even close was in 1995 when we had I believe 17 or 18 snow storms. I wonder how much more our power grids can take of this summer. I know that Con Ed (NY's power company) is on strike and they have outages everywhere and they already had turned down the power 5%.
Lilco (Long Islands power company) can't keep up with the down trees and power lines from these storms either.
One side note. PLEASE If you know anyone who goes to the beach for some fun DO NOT bury you or any one in the sand! It's so dangerous. They just dug out a few kids yesterday and one died. Do not dig big holes or climb on big piles of sand either for the same reason they collapse and you die as a result. This happens ever year around here. Between that and the people who try to swim against a riptide we see a lot of deaths that could have been avoided.

I am going to Kam's but my kids are still here. Besides it's just as hot there.I think its bothering me more than normal because I haven't felt good all week. Then had a tooth pulled so that just added to my wonderful mood. Pain does have a way of doing that.lol
I also decided to ignore my electric bill. Maybe if I ignore it it will go away.....I'm not even going to open the email when it comes.

Re: heat
Was reading an article about this recently. It seems that the reason for the "unusual" weather (in the UK) is that the Jet Stream is several hundred miles further south than usual at this time of year. It normally runs from the Caribbean up north of the UK and keeps the cold wet arctic air away from us and giving us our summer!
Latest forecast has it moving north bring us "normal" weather for the Olympics!
I think the same general explanation (i.e. position of Jet Stream) is causing the unusual weather in the US.

I think they've done it for the Olympics. Since Brits seem particularly good at rowing and sailing I think they are trying to flood all the venues so we have the best chance of winning!! Let's see how flash Usain Bolt is at the 100m dash through 4" puddles... WHOA!! remember the Canadians are there buddy, the ones from Vancouver are used to the rain

Re: heat
They storms have been so violent lately. We keep getting lucky compared to most around us. The storms have done so much damage and blown in with little to no warning. We had a nasty one again the other night. My electric went on and off so many times I had to shut the AC and electronics in the house hoping to save them from a power surge. I have two trees on my property that are making me nervous as well. With 80 mile an hour winds its getting scary. Today they are saying we should be getting more but we wont have more than about a minute warning. They if you hear thunder go inside fast! This is supposed to go on for most of the week. I am hoping our luck holds out and we font have any damage or injuries. I'm really worried about my two oldest who both work out doors and must get all the customers to safety first. One has the outdoor bar and the other runs a gocart track at the
park. Even my youngest who runs the kids parties there at the park sometimes has the kids inside for the party but then they go outside for the park stuff. Its scares me when we have seemingly nice weather and then these storms blow in. Its not like they shut down just because there is the threat of a storm they wait until a storm is definite or hits without warning. But you have to get the people out first then shut everything down and get the equipment put away.
