Re: heat
Our second heat wave is starting today.I hope this is not going to be this was all summer. I might be going to the hospitql with my son. First though he had heat exhaustion but it was to cool when he started getting sick to be that.No thinking from drinking to much Gatorade he might have an electrolyte imbalance. Yeah summer can make you sick in all kinds of ways and even trying to prevent it can make you have other issues. Its scary when the heat and humidity are high. I hope all are trying to be careful.
Please think of your pets and strays in this heat as well. Never ever leave a pet in a car even for a minute with the windows open. It still gets dangerously hot for them that fast.
And for those in the fire zones I hope you all stay safe.

Re: heat
So we started this season with a heat wave and forest fires. Now at the end of June I'm hoping it would stop raining so I can cut my very long grasslands and harvest hay.....I need sun to dry the ground so I can get my equipment out in the fields, and also cure my over 400 ton of hay. That being said I've never seen so much wildlife, they are having an easy time of it with all the wild timbergrass, even the wildhorses are having twins ,and they are surviving ,which is rare.....I geuss you all are getting the heat while northern Canada is still in its late wet season

Re: heat
The heat is bad its been mid to upper 90's with high humidity. They said it should drop below 90 on Tues. We have over 150,000 people with no electricity just south of me for days now and they are expecting a repeat of the storm that took them out again tonight.Just north of me there are 16 or 18 towns with no water(almost the entire county) for days, due to two out of three water mains that collapsed. It will be at least until the forth before most of them get electric or water. I feel so bad for them.....Why is it the timing on these things are always so the people suffer so much?

Con Edison ( NY' s power company) on strike. Major power outages all over the east coast.Still have over 90,000 with no power in Atlantic county NJ alone and no water still for several towns in Monmouth county NJ. Now they are predicting more storms and another heatwave. These poor people can't get a break.
Does anyone know what's going on with the fires? It's like the world has tone nuts. I hope things settle down and everyone gets to go home safely soon.

The heat index is 108! This is crazy. I'm a prisoner in my house until it cools down a bit. Th problems of wearing a patch when you have extreme heat like we have had can be dangerous. I am getting cabin fever in the summer, that's just wrong.

Re: heat
This is getting crazy the heat was bad I though my kids were going pass out because two of them work outside. One who works inside ( sometimes)said the air just couldn't cool the place down . Then a storms blew in so fast that it didn't give anyone time to run for cover. My sons bar was a mess he had one tree come down. Luckily it hit the dumpster rather than falling and hitting what would have been the bar area. While trying to get some water off the over head canopies one of the guys fell out of a tree. Power lines and trees are down everywhere and we lost powered several times. The cable has been out for hours. All the lights are dim as well. The electric keeps going out every few minutes. The internet has been down as well. I'm posting. from my phone. But I had to say there were some nice things. Even with the reports of several tornados. I hear only one person hit by lightning. The pictures of the storm and aftermath were amazing! So what did they do at the bar? You guessed it.... they had a tornado party. I am still glad I was not one of the people stuck on the shy ride across the boardwalk in Seaside during that storm.
We didn't even have half this mess when we had the hurricane.

Re: heat
They posted a video on that web site that everyone posts videos, of a girl jumping out of the Seaside sky ride. She saw the lightening and they were stuck because the ride lost power. They happen to be a lower part (But still pretty high) part of the ride and over the beach area rather than the boardwalk , so she just went for it!. My heart stopped when I saw it. I know how high that was and that had to fucking hurt! She was convinced that if she stayed in the sky ride she would have been hit by lightening. I understand that knowing how bad the storm was but that still took nerve. She did leave her friend sitting in the sky ride thou. I am thinking her friend looked down and said HELL NO! I believe the police did get everyone else off in a safer way.

I got a hold of one of their advanced reports and you should all hear this... According to NOAA, this winter should be..."Cold!" Especially in the higher elevations. I can't make this stuff up...It's just way out there, even for NOAA.

Appears we are having one of those high humidity summers again. Take the good with the bad though, usually a "dry heat". Years ago, my step brothers and sisters spent time in Florida, told me by the time they got dressed after drying off from a shower, they were wet again. I can take a summer of humidity every few years, but not all the time. And yes, there are members of the perve family, that acually wear clothes. (But we try to keep them hidden, as everyone does with thier crazy uncle.)

I think they've done it for the Olympics. Since Brits seem particularly good at rowing and sailing I think they are trying to flood all the venues so we have the best chance of winning!! Let's see how flash Usain Bolt is at the 100m dash through 4" puddles...
