Texas Justice
Have ya seen the story about the guy down in Texas who walked in and found one of his ranch hands sexually molesting his 4 year old daughter? Well, he beat the shit outta the guy and the guy died. He didnt use anything but his bare hands. And now the District Attorney is turning the case over to the State Supreme Court to decide if there should be charges filed against him. Charges? I'd give the guy a friggin medal!!!!!
Clearly, he didn't intend to kill the guy because there was no weapon involved, but I dont know ANY father that if he found himself in the same situation wouldnt react exactly the same way. Hopefully, the Texas Supreme Court has fathers on it and common sense prevails.

Re: Texas Justice
I know around here, although it happens very rarley, child abusers just kinda disapppear, either a hunting accident or they seem to get lost in the mountains. In the early 80's I heard of one "suspect" that hung himself from a cap gate out front of his own ranch, although they never figured out what happened to the pick up truck he was standing on.....I suppose he was molesting the wrong ranchers daughter, and ran into a real short rope. I hope that justice is understanding in this and other cases, and the childs well being and future mental health is considered, upon the judges ruling, if any.The man he killed was living his life by the law of the jungle, not the law of the land.....he was appropriatley dealt with, and that may be an old fashioned way of thinking, but perhaps we may need to backtrack a little when it comes to certain types of vigilanties,......there should be consequences for inappropriate actions, and I make no apologies for how I feel ,that young girl has rights as well. yes give him a medal

Re: Texas Justice
Even if charges are brought against him, he could argue temporary insanity. The rage of seeing his daughter violated in front of him could gave stripped him of all reason, making him unable to control his actions. People have won with this defense before...
The cop probably doesn't want to press charges, which is why he's leaving it in someone else's hands.

Usually problems like that have a way of taking care of themselves.....even like a family member of mine who took on three guys robbing his home....by the time he was done with them, they charged him, but the judge was a good old boy had a good laugh at the crackhead "defendants" and dismissed the case.

Re: Texas Justice
Shriner, TX-- A grand jury has decided not to charge a young Texas father who beat to death a man he saw molesting his 5-year-old daughter.
"Under the law, deadly force is justified to stop a sexual assault. ... All the evidence indicated that is what was occurring," District Attorney Heather McMinn told reporters Wednesday, The San Antonio Express-News reports.
In a dramatic 911 call during the June 9 incident, the 23-year-old father, clearly distraught, has trouble giving directions to his father's ranch near the town of Shiner, Texas.
"I need an ambulance. This guy was raping my daughter and I beat him up and I don't know what to do," he tells the dispatcher.
"This guy is fixing to die on me man, and I don't know what to do," he says.
The call ends as emergency teams arrived, but the alleged assailant, Jesus Mora Flores, 47, was already dead from head injuries, the newspaper says
Although the father was never arrested, the killing was investigated as a homicide, the AP reports.
The father's attorney, V'Anne Huser, called her client "a peaceable soul and he had no intention to kill anyone on that day,".

Re: Texas Justice
To my way of thinking, that should never should have even gone as far as the Grand Jury, especially with all of the facts and details of the incident that were reported since the story first broke.

Just remember if you visit Texas, "He needed killing" is a valid defense for murder here. (Insert evil laugh here)

Free, I disagree. It needed to go to the grand jury. I don't fault the man for killing the guy, nor the grand jury for letting him go. But laws should be created in a calm, cold, calculating manner. Never should they be based on high emotion. Acting out when your emotions overwhelm you is rarely good.
Jen, I need to move to TX.

Re: Texas Justice
There was a story several years ago on the news. A boy was kidnapped and sexually assaulted by his karate instructor. He got caught and the cops were taking him back to NY or NJ ( I can't remember which ) . So the news was at the airport to cover the story. As the cameras were rolling and the cops are walking the guy who was handcuffed through the airport, you see a man with his back to the cameras talking on a pay phone.Right as they get about over to the guy on the pay phone the guy on the phone turns around with a gun in his hand and he shoots the guy and kills him. It turns out the guy on the phone was the kids father. For years I never knew what happened to the father. A few years ago he was on a talk show. I don't remember exactly but I think he was convicted but got something like a day in jail or community service. It was something really light. The prosecutor said they had no choice put to prosecute him but can understand how the guy felt as a father.
It's one of those things...We can't let people just resolve things themselves. This is why we have a legal system. But as a parent I think we can all understand a say, I don't care I would kill the fuck! The big difference was the guy on the phone PLANED to kill the guy. In the current story the guy has an out because he walked into the situation and went crazy but also was protecting his child.
