I think there's many variables and most depend on the person or persons involved.
It doesn't take much to keep me happy. Sure hasn't been latelly though.

I agree with u OOMG.... geesh it hurts to say that out loud...lol j/k but there are variables, mostly on our self. Are you materialistic, do you need a lot of stuff around you, or new clothes to be happy, or do you constantly need ppl around you, or a collection of friends, or travel a lot, or are you someone who need solitude. As for me, I'm not a material kinda guy, i don't shop for clothes unless needed, & by needed, i mean the ass ripped in my jeans or the sole is off my shoes, Just give me a few close friends, a beach , a campfire & my guitar & I'm a happy man, if there was a lady next to me that i thot had everything i wanted in a lady, then it would be a perfect world... well lower gas prices would be nice too

In my opinion, I dont think there is any "one" thing. The obvious answers, which are constants in all of our lives are Love & Health. But other things can change by the day, maybe even by the moment. Others may demonize money, however, it's a necessity in the world we live. I dont need to be wealthy, but I want my bills paid. And after my bills are paid, I want to have enough to give to people who are struggling through no fault of their own. Money certainly isn't the key to happiness, but lack of it can cause a lot of misery. And like NRG said, sometimes something as simple as a call from a friend, a child's laughter or a campfire and a guitar can absolutely make your heart smile

WOW ,I think the defenition of this might change and evolve as one goes through there life, I feel I dont have a clear cut answer , I remember wanting to find the key to happiness long ago.I have grown older,but at this point in my life,I'm still not really sure.
I walk through life pretty much with a Live and let live mentality,I'm a simple machine,Dont mind hard work,like to play hard,Money isnt a major factor for me long as I can maintain my finances,and stay current,and pay what I owe .
I think maybe the most important key towards your happiness might be having the right person to share your life with, Having a loving and supportive partner in your life may be the most important key towards Happiness,or at least a good foundation towards it.

I agree One, it does change with age. When I was in my 20's and 30's, I needed to have the best house in the best neighborhood in the best part of town with the best cars in my driveway and the best clothes in my closet. Nowadays, I'm happy just knowing that my kids are safe, healthy and not wanting for anything. None of that materialistic stuff is important to me anymore.

I have it in my life. But would never, ever wish how I got hear, went through, but mostly put myself through. Made every mistake there is. Happiness, does not come from money, possesions, and no one else can give it to you (relationship), it comes from with-in. For me, it was just getting my shit together, line up up my ducks, and do it. All the struggles, all the poverty, the pain, build charactor. I cannot explain it, no one else can either, you just have to live it. And the peace that you get along with it, priceless. This time/part of my life, I wish for all. Oh ya, did I mention, I'm naked? Quit it now perve, dumb ass.

Just for alls info, I did not write this to impress, be cliche', or any other reason than to be honest. Possesions dont do it, for me any way. Let me have a blanket, pillow, an a.m. radio, a corner of a room on the floor, and I am Bill Gates. Sweet! With out going into it, was a time in my life, that would have been an upgrade, lol. But true. Other than one thing in my life, my gfs passing, would not change a thing. What did it for me, would not work for others, need to find your own. Is'nt being an individual cool? (Still naked, ha, ha)

Being content is a good start.I don't need much. I think if you're content then you have to be happy. But if you worry about bills, health and the other usual things its hard to be content.
I have a VERY WEALTHY friend that says "Money doesn't make you happy, it makes you happier!" I have seen first hand how hard it can be to have a lot of money and the issues they run into. For those who think its the answer to everything think about this. Every time you meat a person and they start to get friendly you would need to have in the back of your head.WHY? Do they like you for you or the money?
I'm with Free and Kam on this. I would want enough money not to have to worry and I always want to have a sense of humor.That with health and I would be content and therefor happy.To be honest even without many of those things I'm pretty happy.

Dont sweat it Newbs, I am the king of typos and mis spellings. My latest cell here, has a regulr keyboard, and am forever hitting the I, O, and P, by accident. Funny thing, I may not be able to spell, but can look at a word, and tell if it does not look right, but nothing I can do about it, lol. On the flip side, math, I am a human calculator. Oh ya, to stay on topic, I have often thought what it would be like to be rich. I think it would be boring. I am glad I was born disadvantaged, because of the years of struggle, to eventually become "comfortable", keeps a persons feet firmly on the earth, you appreciate and value more, and understand what all the ups and downs were about. Peace of mind, is a treasure.

Aw Sweetie, embrace the typos, one of the greatest laughs I've had here was months ago, a thread about spelling and grammar. In one of my replies I remarked how I was more anal about spelling than grammar but I misspelled grammar!
5tar popped off with a great reply pointing that out and a regular topic ended up being a priceless moment for us all.
