Looking at the world through fly's Eyes...
Well not really, Just felt like reflecting on some experiences and views from my eyes looking throught a windshield for many years.
when i decided to drive truck for a living,it was spawned from a lack of desire to be anywhere near my first wife.yea it was that good.As time rolled on the years flew past, from one thing to the next, a line of work I only planned on using till my marriage was ended turned into a life long career, well nearly 30 yrs is close enough.
I would drive my big rig from one place to the next, looking at the world through my Kenworths windshield.A major bonus for me was Seeing so much of the good old USA.When i was a young man , i had dreams of retiring at 50,well seems i missed that mark, but in my travels i have stumbled on a few places that really looked good to me. a few spring to mind.
Galveston Texas always seemed nice .If it was Texas it would be between Freeport and Sabine Pass, close enough to enjoy the ocean regularly .
If I went west it would be northern cali, along the coast,San Francisco is not my style tho, would likely lean towards somewhere between Legget and Cresent City, again not far from the water.
I spent alot of time in and out of Fla.and in my time down there,I liked the looks of the Fort Myers region, really anywhere between Sarasota and Oyster Bay another place down there that really sparked interest was Panama City or really that whole curve in the panhandle from Pensacola to Bayonet Point. Not sure if having family down there helps or hurts the idea of moving there ,sometimes adding family can add anxiety .
If money was no object i would buy land in one of these states, get a saltwater boat to leave there and have a seasonal lifestyle.Seems like a pipe dream these days but Ive literally been most everywhere in this lower 48 and find those places seem most attractive to me,as long as I could buy land away from the city i could contend, its hard to take the country out of this boy . the only bad thing about living to far south I can see is the bloody heat in mid summer. For a northen boy I would have to be able to flee to the north in the hottest weather...As for the rest of Texas,Cali and fla.they seem nice too but im not into big cities and if its not close to lotsa water,I would likely not be happy..
One thing I am beginning to realize is I'm Not interested in giving up my Michigan residence because i love these great lakes to much to sell my house and acreage.I guess im getting tired of freezing my ass off during the winters. One really cool thing For me is I can run my business from anywhere in the lower 48 and that makes me feel better as I look forward in life..
OMG does this mean Im turning into an Old fuck, lol yikes OMG to young to be a snowbird ,,here comes the blue hair, bad thing is i already have the lincoln so i could fit rite in rite now gulp, not funny lol...

Doesn't everyone have dreams like that? I would love to be able to travel but still come home to a house that was private and away from people. I like privacy and its something I never really had a lot of. I would just have to have enough money to have someone else do the maintenance on the property. I want to be far enough from the city that I could enjoy the country life however be close enough to the city that I could go there for the wonderful things the city has to offer as well. I would also like to have property large enough that my kids could have their own houses and land but still have the privacy and space we all want.

Yea what you said, less the kids living on the property,I dont have any kids that are paternal so less my grandson I walk this line without any offspring,my little grandson ,I figure my lifes collection of whatever goes to him when I croak, I love that kid,and hope my separation doesnt cost me seeing him..

A flys eyes are many faceted. Add rose colored glasses could be bad.
Seeing things in many different ways is a good thing----usually.
