Eye witness
What event or events, in the history of earth, would you have loved to seen first hand?
(I'm still thinking on this myself)

Re: Eye witness
I was at the oringinal but was only a kid. I just thought it was odd. I didn't really understand what was going on. We were stuck in traffic trying to get through. Its a few miles from our house upstate NY.They recently turned it into an entertainment, concert type place. Its a shame. I took my kids to the real reunion. Well I took my two oldest, my daughter wasn't born yet. It was great. The guy who owns the adjoining property is a friend and he said people still go there all the time looking for the site. Its a shame they ruined it.There is a monument on the site.If I can find the picture I will post it. Or if I go up there this summer I will grab some new ones. Yasgur doesn't own it anymore. The family sold it not to many years ago. The town is pretty much the same though.
As for events I wish I could have seen or been too......I too need to put much more thought into it.There are a few I wished I wasn't around for.

Re: Eye witness
My first thought was the signing of the Declaration of Independence, or something historical like that. And, I had a vague recollection the signing was not as cut and dry as envisioned or painted. And, I do believe people have a tendency to romanticize many events, instead of coming to realistic or less pleasant, and honest picture. Like, it was hot, it was raining, or muggy, it smelled terrible, there were flies everywhere. Things of this nature.
Thomas Jefferson wrote the first draft of the Declaration of Independence, which was then edited by John Adams and Benjamin Franklin. Jefferson took their edits and incorporated them into what would become the version finally adopted.
July 2, 1776 is the day that the Continental Congress actually voted for independence. John Adams, in his writings, even noted that July 2 would be remembered in the annals of American history. It would be July 4 that would be marked with fireworks and celebrations.
The written Declaration of Independence was dated July 4 but wasn't actually signed until August 2. Fifty-six delegates eventually signed the document, although all were not present on that day in August.

Re: Eye witness
This is another event I have thought of, and I think is absolutely amazing. This would of had to have been the scariest thing EVER!
During the Apollo 11 launch, Armstrong's heart reached a top rate of 110 beats per minute. (I would have needed medication).
He then turned and set his left boot on the surface at 2:56 UTC July 21, 1969, then spoke the famous words, "That's one small step for [a] man, one giant leap for mankind."
About 20 minutes after the first step, Aldrin joined Armstrong on the surface and became the second human to set foot on the Moon, and the duo began their tasks of investigating how easily a person could operate on the lunar surface. Early on they also unveiled a plaque commemorating their flight, and also planted the flag of the United States.

Here's one....
One hundred years ago this week, the great ocean liner RMS Titanic struck an iceberg and sank into the frigid waters of the North Atlantic.
Any takers?

I do love those ancient civilizations, I would love to just see one day of monument/pyramid/temple building just to see how the hell they moved those huge stones.

or "Longevity" either... what im amazed at is how they made jewelry & statues from the mayan jade. This jade is much harder than most jade. A few years ago a lady finally found the source of their jade, she spent 10 yrs searching for it. she had diamond saws & diamond tip drills & couldnt hardly scratch it, so how did the mayans do it without all that new equipment??

I am enthralled by what the ancients did! A wooden handle, a stone tied to the end, and they built entire cities of beatiful stone work and artfully decorated items. Amazing!
